Very good points. Next thing Fasha only ever brings up smartphones or pda phones, then calls anyone who doesn't have one a poor ass, with a crud phone. It is a FACT, pda phones and smart phones do not get as good a service as a standard phone. I have a cell phone to have a . . . phone, my computer is at home, it works just fine at home, and it works much better then anything I could have in a mobile phone. So my computer is my computer, my phone is my phone, and it works in more places then yours does as a result.

Everyone here has brought to the table an expierience about their cell phone provider. Other people have brought useless facts such as which provider has more towers! The number of towers a cell phone company has doesn't matter, as long as they have coverage in your area. If you think that Cingular is better just because they have more towers, even though they don't have great customer service there is a problem. Here is some simple adivce. Find a Phone You Like, Find a carrier who has it, see how well the phone works, and how the coverage is. If it works you are fine. If it doesn't try another carrier (unless you are locked into a contract). Don't pay attention to who has the fewest dropped calls according to their commercial (not to mention any names CINGULAR) but how well your phone works and the service is.

Just because some people (FASHA) think they have the best phone, they refuse to listen to other people's expieriences. I personally have Verizon, like my phone SLVR, and it works good. I'm Happy!

I had my old phone stolen and I was with AT&T. I thought it was ok service, but my bill way always so much higher than they told me. So I have been looking around for advice 4 quite a while. (a few months feels like alot when that is the only way people will talk to you anymore icon_squint.gif .) But I have only one question: Can you get a certain phone and then link it to a certain phone service. i found the perfect fone with t-mobile, but I want a plan with verizon. Any help?

Sorry, they use two different technologies. and the number of towers does matter to a point, gsm needs more towers than cdma because gsm towers can't handle anywhere near the call volume that cdma towers can handle. so naturally there is a need for more gsm towers in urban areas, because other wise thier subscribers wouldn't get phone calls, or be able to dial out.

Is there a way to not sign the contract? Like testing out the phone for a month, seeing if you like it and then returning it? Or liking it and then agreeing with the contract? I had a family member who did refuse to sign the contract, and he still got the phone and the service. It's like it was the fact that he was willing to pay for it, that made them agree. Greedy money people. Money money money!

You can get service without signing a contract simply by buying the phone at full retail, or finding a compatible phone and bringing that in.

Heres the bottom line--- and I mean the BOTTOM LINE- the best company is truly determined by the individual based off of thier location and personal needs! period. if you never travel and cricket is covered in your area and you have a budget then cricket is for you! if you travel and need coverage most everywhere but are on a budget then maybe t-mobile. if money is not a major issue and you travel then maybe verizon or cingular. I have been with cricket, sprint, t-mobile, and verizon. They all served my needs at that given time. I'm with verizon now and im happy. however if i find that t-mobile would equally serve my needs and it would save me a few bucks i would switch today!

I agree with that;calling a provider the best carrier is like calling out the best flavored ice-cream, it's a matter of personal taste.
