Now I personnally have nothing against T-Mobile or any other company for that matter (have friends that work there.) But I have to say your comment about T-Mobile having other things better to offer than coverage is a little funny as the main purpose of a cell phone is to make/receive calls.
I will add though, some people use phone only in one particular area, ie major city, probably works good..if it makes them happy that is great! All depends on what one needs/service, etc.

Obviously a heated topic here. From what I was told by a Cingular business rep (back in 2003), T-Mobile had leased services from Cingular to get their business going. That was a partial explanation as to why our Cingular reception was so poor for 6 months. We had several Verizon accounts for the areas that were so bad with Cingular, until we were released from our Cingular contract. Like magic, the reception issue dissappeared as soon as we ported all our numbers to Verizon. Never looked back, still with Verizon. Now I believe with the aquisition of ATT, Cingular has improved, but from what I hear not at the same level as CDMA technology. VZW and Qualcomm have a lot going on in San Diego, and it's probably one reason why our service is so good. My business spans Southern CA and there are very few areas that are poor under VZW.

I do not work for Sprint nor am I paid by them. I do however feel that some of the bashing of their service is unduly harsh. Sprint's service has served me very well. I have had service with them for about 7-8 years and have really had very few complaints. Yes their customer service used to be awful, it is not great now but is has gotten alot better. I have not had a drop call in a very very long time. I have had my phone in use coast to coast through many airports and on long distance car trips.
When I compare Sprint to other carriers I can only compare them to two others Verizon and Cingular every other carrier outside of those are non existent. Verizon has much broader coverage but with my roaming I cannot see why I would need to switch because I have yet to be without a signal. Maybe I need to go deep into some forest or out on the plains to test my the theory but I think I will pass. Cingular on the other hand really does not measure up. Their voice quality is awful and I mean awful. The people sound like they are talking out of a tube and this is on various phone types. Also, I have owned many cingular phones for work and I would often get voice mails way after the call had been placed and never rang on my handset. Also the amount of time for the system to connect a call can take quite a while whereas I do not notice that on CDMA phones. One last thing, ask people in NYC how overloaded the cingular network can become. You don't have to worry about dropped calls if they never connect in the first place. In my opinion, the only carriers really worth their mettle in voice and data are Sprint and Verizon.
i have cingular and i have great call quality and i have always connected as soon i push the talk button. i have been to NYC and i never had network problems and i never really roam unlike sprint which is most of it network is roaming which mainly off verizon and i rather be with a carrier that didn't really roam cause it shows how good the coverage is and cingular is the second best company in coverage behind verizon and sprint needs to start catching up. i have been all over the united states cause i am military and i had cingular it has been fine and i know i have some drop calls with cingular but what carrier doesn't no carrier is perfect.

You people-really haha...for the person who thinks that T-Mobile has the most towers...do us all a favor and go back to pre-school. They couldn't carry the big boys lunches! Verizon and cingular are by F A R the best of the main 4. Actually T-Mobile isnt even considered in the main...its verizon, cingular, and Sprint. As for who has the best coverage-VERIZON!!! Just because your buddy has 5 bars with cingular and you have 0 with verizon doesnt mean there better! it depends on where you are. Sign up for 15 days and see who has the best reception in your area. Cingular's fewest dropped calls is bogus...look it up some time and read the fine print will you. Verizon isnt 100 % either. CDMA is the best out there and offeres the best service in the US. Around the world GMA is better. Verizon-cingular the best, then sprint, then US cellular, THEN T-Mobile.
You're very funny! 1st off, Tmobile IS considered 1 of the main companies, so that bull crap isnt even worth arguing with, considering it is better than cingular in everything except coverage. Now, your right about how tmobile doesnt have the best coverage, but coverage isnt all to a company, so give me a break when u say anything "decent" about cingular and sprint. i have had every provider and verizon and tmobile are the best. Proven by JD power! && by most critics. i never hear anyone say "cingular is the best "
nor "sprint is the best"... haah not even close.
Im sorry but tmobile is a good company and im glad to currently have service with them.
Now, verizon may have the best coverage, but it is very "spread out".
for example: u will always have service with verizon, just not always full, in fact rarely full (for me when i had them). Tmobile puts many towers in 1 small area, then skips a few miles tile more, which doesnt work all too well when u want service ALWAYS. but i do get service always with tmobile for where i live, so it doesnt matter to me[/b]
T-mobile sucks first of all it coverage is very limted. T-mobile leases most of it towers from cingular so it may have unlimted texting but it is no good if you have no service and it is the most lack behind carrier to put out 3g techology and tmobile has a LOT OF DROP CALLS that why it is known for a cheap service for cheap network it goes like this Cingular verizon best, Sprint and Nextel, and then in last T-mobile

I have had TM for about 4 yrs now. Everything was going fine for the first couple of yrs, then I noticed that TM started have horrible call reception. I have been unhappy with them ever since. Their cs is not so bad as everyone says. I never really had complaints about their cs. But their coverage is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I barely get reception in my house, and in most buildings. I have above avg dead spots. Not helpful!!! Some of you are right. You definately get what you pay for! T-Mobile is cheap for a reason. I'm really not trying to grill TM but, my experience with them has been really bad.
My contract is up this month...THANK GOODNESS! I am thinking about going to VZW. But most of my friends are telling me to go to Cingular. Can someone help me out and please tell me which one has the best reception and coverage. I live in Southern California and people who have VZW are connected most of the time with good call quality.
People that I have heard that have Cingluar have good reception as well. I am planning to get a family plan and both VZW and Cingular have the lowest price at $69.99 I believe.
So people, give me your opinions on which one I should chose and why
THANKS ALL!!!

Ok i know most of you arent going to beleive this, but all of my freinds at my high school that have cingular, dont get reception anywhere inside of it or on the grounds. And if your wondering all i know is that verizon does get reception, and I do live in a large city.

That's bound to happen. Especially inside of a building. Not a reflection of the company as a whole but just in that particular spot.
Ok I have had sprint for over 5 years and never had a problem with my signal. I live in the southwest in Phoenix, AZ and have traveled from the west coast to the east coast in the U.S and my phone has worked great without droping any calls. I also been to parts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic and my sprint gets signal there in some parts. Unlike my cousin who has cingular is always droping his calls and everytime someone calls him you can hear too much static. Another thing to mention we went to mexico two weeks ago and his cingular phone had too much problems getting a signal and everytime he finally got conected to make a call he lost the signal. I had to let him use my phone. Wonder why? Could it be that he has a razor phone?

The countries of which you have spoken have much better CDMA service than they do GSM---that's why you're getting better service there.
