I bought a RAZR V3 on Sunday.
The Radio Shack near me is going out of business, so they were selling their new phones for 60% off, and you didn't even need to activate it, so I got one of the Cingular V3 phones. I was disappointed to find out that the RAZRs have different camera resolutions. The V3 has only a VGA camera similar to my Nokia. I'm not sure which one I should sell on Ebay now. My Nokia is unlocked, so that is desirable, but the RAZR is the more desireable phone. I'm not excited at all about the RAZR's customization abilities and menus.
I love the sound quality, the huge inside screen, the look, and the feel of the phone when using it.
The Nokia has software that is free to sync up to a PC, an FM radio that I actually use in the mornings to listen to my favorite, Bob and Tom Show, and a menu/ interface that is completely customized the way I want it and familiar with it.
The RAZR requires me to buy the Moto software, (which I think is a load of crap to have to buy software and drivers to use a basic feature of the device), learn a new O.S., learn new software, transfer all my contacts, and customize the phone to my liking, (or as close as I can get.)
Do any of you have any thoughts of which phone to keep and which one to sell?

60% off?...damn!
Anyway, I'd keep the Nokia.

Why would you keep the Nokia over the RAZR?

it sounds like the nokia suits you better, and you'll probably get more money for the V3.
but there is a lot of mods for the V3 in the moto forum.

Well, you could do a comparison between the 2 phones. But I'd choose the 6102i over the RAZR because of personal preference. I'm not into the "thin is in" mentality. Plus the RAZR is a bit delicate for me. The 6102 can take more punishment from everyday use. And like you said, the radio feature comes in real handy when you're on the go. The 6102 also has an IR port. But even the RAZR has exceptional reception, the 6102 is just as good. It just depends on how you use the phone, and what you need from it. If call clarity is your #1 concern, then go for the RAZR. Anything else, the 6102i.

Mods, meaning modifications or moderators who like them?
I'm scared to go in and start modifying my phone operating system. If I kill it, then I got nothin'!
Edit: I'm going to try out the RAZR for a couple of days and see if it grows on me. The biggest pain is organizing the contacts. Is this easier to do with the software?

This is exactly my delima. I too have a Razr that I am indecisive on. I have had great luck with Nokia durability and reception in the past. The Razr is cool because of all the mod stuff, which I did and had fun with, but it got "boring" pretty quick. I decided I just want a phone that is not delicate (always afraid when handling my razr) and gets good solid signal. Reception since I got the Razr has been awful, but may be more to crap in area as other are too having issues. keep me posted on your decision. I may be right behind you. have you done a signal comparison with the two?

My signal is stronger on the RAZR. I can get a slight signal in my basement where I could get none with the Nokia.
I have decided to keep the RAZR and sell the Nokia because:
1. It feels more like a phone when I use it as a phone.
2. Call clarity/ signal strength seems to be better
3. Call volume is much higher.
4. Speakerphone is clearer.
5. The screen is friggin' huge. I felt like I was straining my eyes when I went back to the Nokia to get contacts off.
6. Buying the data cable and software for the RAZR is $10 on ebay, where as the real Nokia cable is $30+ and on back order from Nokia
7. I'd like to try doing some of the mod stuff.
8. The RAZR feels way sturdier than the Nokia. The Nokia is flimsy plastic. So I am in disagreement with peryus88 that the Nokia is more durable.
So far the only downsides to the RAZR are:
1. Setting the ringtones and profiles is baffling me. Why does it switch ringtones when I plug it in to charge. How do I set up a profile for when I am at the office and want a quiet ring?
2. Can't turn off the viewing of the SIM card contacts. Is there a mod for this? I had to erase them from my contacts so I could organize my contacts the way I wanted them. I'd like to have a backup on the SIM card, but I guess if it's on the software, it's not such a big deal.
