I recently purchased the LG 8300 on the Verizon network and really like it in general. There is only one problem I have encountered so far. The volume of the handset seems to fluctuate by itself and is often so low as to be practically inaudible. The volume often begins very low at the beginning of a call and might increase during the call. I replaced the handset once already, but the new one has the same problem. The problem only seems to be in the handset speaker. The speaker phone feature and the bluetooth headset work fine.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a fix for it? I suspect that it might be a bug in the software. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I dont' want to give up this phone!
Thanks,
Chris

I had the same problem for a while. Try going to menu-settings and tools-call settings-voice privacy. Turn it off. I think it's supposed to quiet the speaker when you pull it away from your ear and it sucks. Let me know if it works out for you.

Thanks very much for this tip. I tried it just now, and it seems to work. I will let you know after a few days how it worked out.
Cheers,
Chris

superhawk,
Now after a few days using the phone with Call Privacy turned off, I still notice the problem, but it is not as bad. What happens now is that the volume literally fluctuates during the course of a call. Sometimes it is very low and then gets perceptively louder as the call goes on. Have you experienced this also? Any other ideas on how to fix this?
Best,
Chris

i hadn't noticed this problem until today when i was on a call and it was doign the same thing to me, though the person i was talking to (also on verizon wireless) was in an extended area and i'm not sure if that was the cause or not.

Unfortunately, I have recently noticed this. It worked fine for a while, but now it's been getting crackly and quiet. I have no clue how to solve it. I'm out of ideas. Anyone else?
