I am curious if there is any way to simply copy the WMA files to the card via a reader and simply put the MicroSD in the phone and have the music play? Do you HAVE TO BUY the music essentials kit from Verizon?

No, you don't have to buy the music essentials kit from Verizon. All you need to do is to have a card reader (for your card or universal) that connects to the computer with an USB cable, and then you need to copy the music from the computer to the MicroSD, and then just copy from the card to the phone. Don't forget to format the card before you copy anything into it.

I tried that and the phone did not recognize the music files. I even converted them to WMA format as well. Is there a specific way to name the files so that the phone will recognize them?

Try to download a converter from the internet, and convert it to WMA, than try to play it on the phone, I’m sure this is going to work; it sure did work for me. Here is a website for a music converter - www.dbpoweramp.com or just go to google.com and write - music converter.
Wish you good luck.
By the way - how do you like your phone so far? Had any issues with it?

I am REALLY liking this phone! I did a LOT of research and this one was the clear winner dollar for dollar over the other choices.

Enjoy the phone, I liked it from the first time I saw it. When I went to buy the new phone I was planning to buy a totally different one from Verizon, suddenly my father saw the Samsung sch-a930 and when I saw it in his hand I liked right a way. Never did the resource like on the other phone I wanted.
So enjoy it.

Heres how to get mp3s to play 1. Go to Settings/Tools
2. Hit the # key and enter 000000 for the secret code
3. Enter 0 and then enter 8886573982 for the user lock code
4. Select Mp3

Not sure what you guys are doing but I've got about 100 mp3's on my sch a930.
I just used the music kit to transfer them to my phone using windows media player.

I have just recieved my Samsung Sch-a930, and it tokk me like 5 minutes to figure out how to make great ring tones. I have right round by flo-rida with vocals instead of the mid files and yes mine are MP3 files. it takes alil time but if you do a search( I used Yahoo) I found a converter free online and yupperz they work wonderfully.
