Hey all,

I'm due for an upgrade at Verizon in a couple of months, and the real selling point for me with the Samsung phone was its music player. I've done some research on it, and I've come up empty on some points.

I'm sure these are easy questions for folks on this board, or anyone who has the phone:

-Is AAC an acceptible format for music on the player?

-Does it have repeat/shuffle functions?

-Can you make playlists or folders?

-What's the best program for putting music on the phone (Windows Media, iTunes, (if those will even work, not sure about iTunes) etc.)?

After reading reviews, it was between the Razr and this phone, and the music player seemed a lot better on this one.

Thanks for the help!

hey, i signed up jus to reply to you. the a930 does not play mp3 files so u would have to rip the cd to your computer with Windows Media Player then copy the tracks into your transflash. THe Razr is the same. Both the razr and the a930 only play wma music. The best verizon phone in my opinion is either the Samsung a970 or the LG VX8300 (there is also a new samsuns a990 but i dont know how that one is i kno its expensin though, about 350 with a 2 year contract)

yeah .wma only. windows media 10 does it automatically. you can shuffle and make playlists using windows media player 10.

this is the first mp3 player i've ever used on a phone. persoanlly, i'm disapointed. maybe i shouldn't have expected it to be as good as an iPod, but man, this thing is frustrating. first of all, the headphones suck. of course, you can use your own if you get an adapter ($4 @ radio shack). i can;t even hear anything when i'm on the subway. it's like, that's the main place that I want to listen to music, so i'm disapointed.

also, some of the files i put onto to my phone degraded when they were converted from mp3 to wma. that's the worst. i'd like to know if anyone else has this problem. the degraded songs gradually slow down, like when you play a vinyl record and turn off the record player. but i'm pretty sure this is an issue with win media player, not the phone. damn i hate windows.

i wish this worked with iTunes. if anyone knows of any program that lets you not use media player 10, PLEASE tell me... thanks

Hello. I have my Samsung SCH-A930 for about a week and a half. Since then I've tried to work my music player but nothing is happening, it always give different messages like: "error in music player", "looking up license agreement", or some other messages. I tried to play music from the memory card it didn't work either.

Please tell me how to work the music on the phone....

Thank you very much. icon_smile.gif

I just got the A930 couple of days ago and like it so far.

You cant play mp3 files, only wma files. I use Jet audio and converted my mp3 files. http://www.download.com/JetAudio-Basic/3000-2167_4-10495839.html?tag=l st-6-1
Best thing is jet audio is free, pretty quick and it works. Am not getting any errors when using WMA 10 and works fine when I sync it up. The speaker phone is pretty loud when I tested it and music sounds is good.

Just got my 1gb microSD, cant wait to load it up. icon_biggrin.gif

I wrote an article up about my experiences on how to get the A930 to play music. It was a long, frustrating, and (at times) comical experience, so I tried to fit this as well as the lessons learned into my tale...

Hope it helps. If it does, send me an e-mail at clhelper@mailthru.com. It's always nice to know the effort was worth it to someone!

(You can also sign-up for your own free e-mail forwarding at www.mailthru.com)

Best of luck!

Just got my phone and purchased a Music Kit with transfer cable for $30.00. There is free software you will need from bitpim.org. Be sure you have the most current version. A friend actally sent me the software and I had to download the update. Instructions for transferring are weak. I created a test Outlook folder to use. The program should first seek your phone. Then retrieve any contacts currently on the phone. From the File prompt, import the Outlook Contact folder you want. You can then make adjustments or deletions. They color code the contact list to help you. Finally, transfer the contacts to your phone.
Learning the thing took the longest. There is a tutorial, but it is weak.
Good Luck.
