no, if you already have a phone and just want a plan, you don't have to leave a deposit. the deposit is for the phone and for a new phone. however, getting a plan will put you on a 2 year contract

you can use a nextel phone for boost service, but you can't use a nextel sim card, it's got to be a boost sim card and you can get those with the starter kits.

actually if you already have a phone that you got from a friend or whatever and you want to activate it on sprint... if you chose a family fair and flex, a fair and flex, or a free incomming, or you wanted to have nights at 6 or 7 then yes you will have a 2 year contract!!!!!

6pm & 7pm nights don't require a 2 year contract anymore. that was very recently changed.

Can Nextel Bring SOME of their phones to Verizon Wireless? I want to own a Nextel phone without switching companies.

this acrtually incorrect if you want activate service and you have shit credit you will have to pay a deposit i work for sprint and deal with this daily deposits are 50, 10, 150 or 250

Sprint recently made their deposit requirements a little stiffer due to the large amount of involuntary deactivations (phones shut off for nonpayment). Now the deposit can be anywhere from 0-750, although I have yet to see one above 500 to this point, which used to be the minimum deposit on a Nextel phone. A Nextel phone can be used with Boost service, but would require a Boost chip, and to be honest, you'd be better off throwing the i530 away and just buying a Boost phone now, the prices start at 39.99 and have stronger signals with less software issues then the i530 had. Oh and the deposit and phone have nothing to do with each other, the deposit is a security against you running up a huge bill and then not paying. The ETF is what takes care of the phone (Even if you already have a phone). The sim chips are reusable provided they were never reported lost of stolen. I don't usually recomment buying phones on EBay as there is more risk involved then usual with this sort of product.
