My apologies if this has been asked before. Cingular has built a tower 2 or 3 miles from my house, it appears to be finished but I am not noticing any better reception. Since I got my phone it's never worked well at my house, it gets a signal if I sit it in the window sill but I was hoping for a lot better once this tower got built. There are 2 other towers in the area a few miles away but the new one is the closest. Anyway my question is once a tower is built is it "on" immediately or does it take some time to come on? This tower has appeared to be finished for a week or two. Thanks a bunch.

I show one tower within a mile of that address. a little south from where the 305 and 306 meet, and it's fully functional.

elmo, I have a SonyEriccson T637 the only option I see like this is an option to select GRPS & GSM or just GSM. What's the diff? It's set on both right now. There is no search option that I can see.
thanks.

GPRS just means you're using data, while GSM is what the phone uses for voice calling.

I actually do try resetting the phone quite often but I just really expected this tower to impove my reception since it's a lot closer than the others in my area. Is there any way to tell how powerful this tower is or something like that? I've talked to some other ppl in the area and they all say there's been no difference in their phone signal since this tower got built.
