So my wife's cell phone is wonky, and we need to replace it. We have an extended warranty through Circuit City, which doesn't have any more phones but will give us a $100 check toward a new one.
What phone would be a good choice? She currently has a Samsung SCH A310, which has worked well until now. Here are our priorities:
1. Good reception and sound quality, both sending and receiving.
2. Flip phone, with an external screen to check caller ID before opening.
3. Small, lightweight (doesn't have to be the tiniest thing out there, but we don't want something bulky or heavy).
4. Voice dialing.
5. Functionality in remote areas (does this require analog? do most phones still have this?)
6. Long talk time would be nice, but less important.
We don't care a lick about a color screen, camera, web browsing, email, PDA, etc. I know some of those things are standard now, but we don't need them.
Is bluetooth a nice thing to have? I've never used it.
Our budget is ~$100. If possible, it would be great to get it without having to agree to a new contract with Verizon, but if we had to we could.
These looked like good possibilities on the Verizon website:
LG VX8300
Motorola RAZR V3m
Motorola V325
Motorola E815
Samsung SCH-a930
Samsung SCH-a850
And someone else recommended the Samsung SCH a-890, but it looks like it's been discontinued.
Any recommendations would be most welcome!

I'd say the 8300.

thanks, tampadelphian. any particular reason why you'd recommend that one?

I work here, and for what you need, it seems to be the best for the money. It gives you what you need in a compact, yet durable, phone.

You didn't mention your network, but I assume with your phone choices, you're on Verizon. I too have heard good things about the VX8300. However, if you need Analog roaming for remote areas, I think the only choice (though I didn't look at the Samsung models you listed) is the Moto V325, which is a Tri-Mode phone. It also has the new Navigator GPS map system for directions. Pretty cool
