Hello all,
There was a thread about a month ago on removing the camera altogether, but never seemed to get a conclusive answer. My situation is that I work full-time and do part-time contract work for government contractors that do not allow cameras (or camera-enabled devices) on site. I'm currently stuck with crappy phones to begin with, and would very much LIKE a bluetooth enabled phone. Bluetooth without camera is basically unheard of.
Anyways, I'm trying to figure out three things:
1) can I completely disable all camera-related functions in the software (would be nice, but not strictly necessary)
2) is is possible to physically remove the lens without damaging the phone
3) anyone know of small companies (or individuals) who can make RAZR faceplates, and might be willing to do a custom run if I order enough? Basically looking to get a faceplace without a hole for the camera.
Any advice much appreciated! I'm desperate to upgrade phones, and am hoping with the extremely large RAZR user base there may be enough user knowledge and interest out there to do this. Thanks!

1) yes
2) yes
3) you may be better off pulling the glass off over the lens (should peel off if you are carefull) and sticking something into that place

Great, thanks! Next question... can you point me to information on removing the camera/option? I know it's here somewhere, but I'm new to the board (and the topic) and wouldn't know where to start looking.

I have a suggestion that may help:
We have a local sign shop that is making custom "skins" for cell phones. They scan the front and back of the phone to make a template, then cut the shape out of sticky sign plastic, making a sticker for the front and back of the phone. They cost less than $10 and can be made in any color imaginable! Perhaps a sign shop in your area would be willing to do the same thing for you, minus the hole for the camera?

You know where you work and I have a good guess ! Are you saying that you can have a 2 way communication device but no camera ! If I spotted a RAZR where cameras are not allowed, I would report it. This is only going to cause you greif and investigations. Get a one way pager and have your service provider page you when you get a call. I just want you to think about this before you cause yourself alot of trouble. Good luck and look at the motorola W375 if you are allowed.
