Forgive the ignorance. I've searched our (Cingular's) policy/procedure database on this subject as much as I know how, but I can't seem to figure out how to tell when I should transfer to relocation or when I should just change the PPU myself.
I did a couple of PPU changes today...in each case, the phone stayed in the same state...but I don't know if "stay in the same state" is the criteria or not.
I'd especially love a search string that will provide the appropriate guidelines from our policy/procedure database.
Thanks in advance.

its in CSP... #1891
best explained with a scenario...
cust is in NYC and moving to Los Angeles...
2 different markets.. you warm transfer to roaming and relocations
a customer is in NYC and moving to long Island (same market) you do the change...
if the customer is moving and it goes from a care market to a telegence market ....you warm txfer to roaming and relocations (not necessarily a long distance move either!!)

thanks elmo for the CSP # and the scenarios. I'll look that up today when I get to work.

i was told, even if they are moving within the same market, if they need the area code changed on their phone number, then we are to transfer them to relocations.

what you were told *may* be correct (like in NY where it could be either CARE or telegence)... but always refer to the CSP for guidance

Yeah I'd go with Elmo on this.
Check in CSP quick right off the bat- and usually if theyre in the same market you can pull it off, but CSP will tell you whats what and what to say and who to Xfer to and when.
Its not a long trip to just do a "I'm just pulling up the information for you..."
and pull the CSP res and just follow it.
When in doubt- goto CSP ( unless its troubleshooting, then Primus might actually help.. )
good luck-

Sorry- forgot to say, Relocations can be relied to assist with a lot-
For a relocating cust:
* Termination of service in former region
* Finalize billing in former region
o Payments accepted, if necessary
* Establish service in new market, including:
o Selection of new price plan
o Address equipment compatibility issues
o Having any deposit moved from the former account to the new account with the same effective date, for refund to customer at the appropriate time
