Hello, here's a situation for you:
I currently have T-mobile here in NY after switching from Verizon. A friend of mine in Canada just got a new mobile phone through Aliant and, for some strange reason, he can text me and recieve texts from Canadian phones but not from neither my T-mobile phone nor my Verizon.
T-mobile phone says message sent but he never gets it. Verizon phone returns a text to me saying it's a landline number.
We've both called our customer care numbers and each one is saying that it must be the other one's plan.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and/or can shed some light on it?

international text messaging isnt always as simple as domestic... generally speaking the call and data routing in Canada
where at the ALIANT end send and recieve is working... call Tmob tech and have a ticket raised...make sure that they know the phone number you are sending to... their data base needs to be updated...

1. Does it matter that Canada from here isn't considered "international" texting?
2. Texting TO him didn't work from two separate services (Verizon and T-Mobile) so that wouldn't be a problem on his end?

Canada is an international text message
here's the fine print from the Tmob website
*For US telephone numbers. Messages to international numbers from the US are $0.15 each. Messages sent while traveling internationally cost $0.35 each.*
because from the ALIANT end said person can send and recieve a text message...I dont see any problems there
the trouble is from the USA end... the database for NPANXX (area codes and exchanges) that 902NXX exchange has not been identified as cellular by those USA carriers... a tech ticket will fix it...

calling or texting between Canada and the USA for cell phones or landlines is not conisdered International. it's long distance.

thats not the point...
the area code and exchange IE 902225 is a cell exchange...
902455 is a land line exchange...
if the carrier in the states does not flag the 902225 as a cell exchange the SMS will not go anywhere
