I started with a wav file, downloaded from a fan-website.
I opened it in Audacity and tweaked it to my liking.
I didn't feel like getting Lame to convert it, I just opened the file in iTunes and right-clicked "Convert to MP3".
Then I emailed it to my phone with Spunko's suggestion: xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix dot com (just replace the x's with your ten digit number)
When it arrived, Chocolate offered me the option to save it as a ringtone. Worked perfectly, 100% free, and it took maybe half an hour - probably less time than I would have spent searching and rejecting ringtones on GetItNow.

Hi, I use the Canadian version of the chocolate TG800 (which is basically same as KG800).
When I'm in the options menu of the MP3 player, I do not have an option to set the mp3 as a ringtone like the manual says.
The only way I have been able to set an mp3 as a ringtone is by putting the mp3 in the 'ringtunes' folder when I'm transfering the file from PC to the phone.
Can someone please help me?

So the "Music Essentials Kit" is not only not essential but its basically worthless... expect for maybe the headset.... [my current dilemma... but i digress]
MacBook and the LG Chocolate both have bluetooth.... THANK GOD.... I believe it's page 9 of this discussion which has screen snaps of the program windows.
You will need BitPim... an open source program [meaning totally free] for updating the phone.
Go to the "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" under the tool bar icon for Bluetooth. Be sure to turn your phone's bluetooth into "discovery mode" and "visible" [under the tools tab]...
After you have paired the phone and the computer.... refer to page 9 of this thread for more instructions.... very good instructions i might add....

Ah jeez..I just posted and got an error message about my URL. I'm not a spammer, I swear!
On to my problem..
btw-very informative 15 pages!
I used the txt to phone method to get my ringtones, and it worked beautifully with one problem. They're not loud enough. Unfortunately, I signed up at funtonia before I found this site (they have an amazing selection of mp3 realtones). I don't think I can alter the ringtones..someone mentioned playing with the amplification. It's not that the quality came through bad..it's very good actually. I tried to change the format to qcp to see if that would help but I wasn't able to figure out how to do that.
I will probably need to make my own using a freeware program but since I've paid the subscription and d/l 20 or so ringtones to my desktop already, I'm looking for any suggestions to increase the volume on what I have. If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear.
TIA~

Thanks, esal One question, though. Is it user friendly? I'm not good with new programs. (that's code for technically challenged)
Basic stuff I can handle. I checked into BitPim before I found this site but it looked a little scary.
