BitPim is a life saver, much more reliable and better than e-mail. I got 10+ ringtones in a matter of seconds using BitPim, some being 2 or 3 minutes long. But they still play! You WILL NOT be sorry if you download it, seriously. I was debating on downloading it, since it seemed like a waste of space, but it isn't. If you download it, here's some advice:
-Ditch the e-mail for good! It's slow, unreliable, and crappy altogether.
-Click on 160 kbit per second when converting MP3 to your phone. It's crystal clear quality and it's small, too.
-DON'T delete or rename your ringtones after adding them to your phone, the tone will disappear, and your ringtone folder will glitch. To rid of the defected ringtone, you have to lose ALL your ringtones (by clicking Replace All in BitPim, since you can NOT delete them manually). If you must rename a ringtone, be sure to do it on your PC, and replace it.
-Also, take out your MicroSD when adding ringtones. It somehow deleted over 200 of my songs when I added my ringtones, and that definitely is not good. I got them back, though, but it'd be nice if the BitPim didn't delete stuff without owner's consent!
-Need ringtones that aren't composed crappy? Check out http://www.vgmusic.com, Midi files of all your favorite games.
-Follow this advice

The actual sound ringtone will disappear, but it will still say it's on your list, caausing your ringtone folder to glitch. To rid of the defected ringtone, you have to lose ALL your ringtones (download Bitpim, plug in your phone up via USB cord, and click 'Replace All' in BitPim, since you can NOT delete them manually in BitPim.) If you must rename a ringtone, be sure to do it on your PC, then sync.
Hope that helps, Melissa.

RINGTONES!!!!!!!!!! (FOR FREE) (5 MINUTES OR LESS) (THIS ACTUALLY WORKS, NO BITPIM NO BLUETOOTH, NO USB, JUST THE LITTLE CARD, THAT'S IT)
actually what i found that worked really well was that if you have a micro sdcard and a card reader, all that you have to do is formatt the card inside the phone plug the card reader inside the Computer, then drag and drop the mp3, wma, wave file into the my_sounds folder. then you can put as many ringtone files into the folder as your card or phone can hold. take card out of reader then insert into phone. go to MY SOUNDS folder under "Get it Now", Get tunes and tones, and then my sounds. find the ringtone file that you want to use as your ringtone, then hit options and move, it should copy that file to your phone memory. after that is done, highlight that ringtone file and hit send (ok button) enter your own or your friends 10 digit telephone and within minutes it will send the message, and recieve the message. go to your inbox and open the file, it usually starts playing the tone immidiently. hit the right soft key (options) then scroll down to "set as ringtone" (it will be there) click ok and it wil ask you if you would like to set it as your main ringtone. if yes then follow the prompts, i no then the phone will transfer the file to the My ringtones folder and it will be there for whenever. i have already used this method several times. i tried this one because the ringtones came out as clear as it sounded on the computer. i have no idea how loud it would be, but i'm guessing how ever you make it on the computer, and it can be as long as you want it, or you could make it loop to keep going. and i accidentely added one that i didn't want, so i tried to delete it. and it worked perfectaly. not in the list, and the other ringtones sound fine. BITPIM sucks and it wouldn't recognize my phone so i decided to improvise. not meaning to diss all the people that use the mycellnumer@vzwpix.com thing. but i triesd that too and it didn't work. i bought the Music essentials kit too but that was a big waste of money, except for the headphones. i just bought a microsd card from Hong Kong for thirteen bucks online and i dragged and dropped all of the songs that i use from itunes, mp3, wma, mp4g, and i copied to the my_music folder on the card and everything is playing just fine on my phone.i also get all of my music off of limewire, and if you have the messaging thing, it is completly free and it only takes 5 minutes or less, you also need your own usb card adapter. i hope that ths helps a lot of people if you didn't know about it before, but i havent yet found any post about ths. email me at drew-dyer@hotmail.com to tell me how it went and i'll try to help you if yuo need it. GOOD LUCK oh and heads up, if you try to transfer everything through your phone, it wont work, get the card reader for three bucks at walmart, (it's worth it)

This is probably a stupid question but.... I have the 8500 chocolate and after many attempts to create my own ringtones using Bitpim with NO success of transfering them to my phone, I have found out that I need to purchase a Micro SD Memory Card. My silly question here is, will I need the card reader as well and how does this work? Im talking about a break down from the card to the computer connection to the card reader so I can have any type of success with this thing that is possible. THX

I downloaded BitPim and it won't recognize my phone. I also tried to do it with the other computers in the house but will still not recognize. Does it have to with the fact that i bought my usb cord from ebay and did not get it from an authorized verizon dealer or is there something else in play?
Need extreme help.

WTG Holtram......Thanks for sharing that tidbit........I haven't tried that one yet.
For many others here, most of what many are asking has been answered here already on previous threads.
Bluetooth/Bitpim rocks
