I created my ringtone in Audacity and exported it as an MP3. When I load it into BitPim and convert it I get the first error that the MP3 might be too big. So I click OK. Then when I try to transfer the MP3 from BitPim to my phone it says Access to the File/Directory has been blocked on this phone by the phone provider.
What did I do wrong?
Can anyone help me?

I'm getting the exact same problem with bitpim. I saw the other method and I actually can't do that because I have texting turned off on my phone. if anyone has a less commonly known program that could upload ringtones to your phone it seems that it could be a solution.
EDIT: okay after a few hours of reading it seems a firmware update has been released on the newer phones to block bitpim. So I'm still curious if anyone has an alternative to bitpim that does basically the same thing. if anyone has a suggestion it'd be extremely helpful.

okay about a day and ton of reading later it seems that with the release of the new firmware version T85VZR05 that is the 8500 verizon version 5 that they blocked immediate access to your ringtones through the USB port. a bitpim fix to get around this may be released in the future (no clue), but the most immediate solution seems to be to flash your phone back to version 4 where access to your ringtones is allowed. While this seems like it will be a pain in the ass. it seems the only way. If someone cna post a tutorial or point me to one on how to flash that'd be great.

Apparently once you've got the new version 5 firmware, it's (currently) practically impossible to flash backwards to version 4.which SUCKS. For more info on the firmware issue, check out the firmware thread over at howardforums.
People are working on trying to flash/downgrade firmware and/or get around the bitpim blocking issue. I imagine it's only a matter of time, but I don't know how long it's going to take. This put me off getting a new Chocolate phone, that's for sure.

For those of you who are using the email method to get ringtones, how is the quality of the tones you send yourself? I've heard some people complaining about compression during sending that makes the tones sound bad/funny.
Also, for those of you using bluetooth to get your computer to talk to your Chocolate, can you transfer mp3s this way, or is that limited to the cable? I have a Mac, so the cable won't work for me.
I'm really keen on the Chocolate (damn you Verizon for locking out bitpim in V5!) and want to make sure I can actually send decent ringtones to myself before I go ahead and buy one.
Thanks!

Hello there, i have the LG chocolate tg800, and i have no problem getting mp3 songs to my phone using the removable drive, through the usb cable. But unfortunatly those songs that i tranfered only apear in the mp3 folder, where an option to set them as a ringtone does not exist. I checked both " my folder" as well as " other ringone folders,, but the songs that I transfered dont appear in the folders where i have an option to set them as a ringtone. Can anyone help,, is there another way of setting it,,, or getting it in the right folder.
thank you,,,,,,,,,,

umm why doesn't some1 just find out what file directory the ring tones are stored in and make that on their microSD card and put the ringtone there?
ive tried my_ringers and my_ringtones but neither works
does anyone know?
as ive said i have the microSD card and was sorely disappointed to find out i couldn't use my music as a ring tone.i also tried saving it under my_sounds but that didn't do anything either.could it be like vzw_tones? or sumthing
would that work or am i making things up?
and when u email it to yourself what would u save it as?
thx
`Kz.
