Just got the new chocolate and wondering if the only way to get GOOD QUALITY ringtones is to get the cable?
Sending them to myself via text isnt working, they sound too horrible to use.
I have Bitpim, Audacity and Lame.
Do i just need to get the USB cable?
Thank you.

nikeshox04, No ya can't. See Hero's Post. I haven't done it yet, but it'll probably be your best bet.

Does anyone know if running the LG Download to enter NV edit would cause anything to go wrong with it? I know a lot of the firmware flashing stuff refers to VZW phones, but wasn't sure about this. And if I could do that, does anyone know if Bitpim would work with it? Bitpim currently picks it up as Other CDMA, and has no option to do anything. I really would like to get this working, and appreciate any help.

PS: I have read through all the pages, but I hope someone will be able to help me with this & tell me whether it would work or not; I do not know much about phone firmware/software etc.

Thanks.

make sure if are buying a USB cable you DO NOT get the straight cable (like i did.)
it wont work, as it needs the little plastic blob half way on the cable that converts from USB to serial and then connects to the serial interface in the phone. (thanks BitPim)

I have had a LG chocolate lg8500 phone for a few months now, I got it through telus and i want to put custom ringtones onit. I keep hearing you need a usb cable but i cant find where i would plug it it. Do you plug it into the sd card slot or into the power slot, or is is hidden

You guys can send the tones to yourselves by attaching your midi file to an email and mailing it to your MMS address that goes to your phone. YourMobileNumber@vzwpix.com the vtext won't work, that is an SMS file system.

This is of course for VZW customers. There's no need to go to a 3rd party.

L33t ~ your usb cable will plug into the power slot on phone and the usb port will of course go into your usb on computer.
