Needstones: In relation to your first question, is the file you're opening up to edit in .mp3 or .wma format? Audacity doesn't own the decompression algorithms to open up .wma's (since they're owned by MS), so they'll end up sounding like crap. Try ripping your song files to .mp3 and see if those work.
Theory: Although your question should have its own post , I'll try to answer your question. As far as I know, there's no way to stretch or manipulate the size of the picture if its already on your phone. However, I'm sure you can resize it to your needs beforehand with any basic photo editor. If I'm not mistaken, the wallpaper size for the Chocolate is about 240x320, so try to shoot for that size with future pictures. I'd like to hear your results.
cjdzombie: Yep, let's stick it to the man!
bobburt444: Technically, you can send as many ringtones as you want in an MMS, provided that you keep it under the 350kb limit (I'm not sure if that's just the Chocolate's limit, or if that's a general rule for all phones).
I hope my answers help.
I tried using 320x240 but they came out too skinny. When I changed it to 320x320 they came out right. Don't ask me why, they just did! LOL

Well i played with sending ringtones to my phone and for some reason the quality is always reduced, even if u send a file lower than 350kb. I downloaded a copy of cooledit pro and increased the amplification by 6db then sent it to my phone. The ringtone plays loud but still looses a bit of quality. I think the only way to go is to get the cable and bitpim for max quality.

Well, i have a razr, but the email method still worked for me, the first time that is. I sent one and it worked, but every one that i send after that just shows up on my phone as a blank pix message. I looked in the message detail and it shows that the size of the file sent is the same size as the song, but theres no attatchment. The file is under 350k and its an mp3, like the first one. Any help?
edit: the first one that worked was converted into a .qcp file and was shrunk down to 52Kbs, if that means anything?
any help would be greatly appreciated

pondjc: in actuality, the quality of the mp3 is not reduced at all when sent through email, its the loudspeaker on the phone that sucks. For instance, on any bass-heavy songs I play, the quality sounds like crap when I'm playing it all full volume, but if I turn it down a few notches, it sounds just fine.
Another way I confirmed the quality of the songs was by listening to the songs through the headphones supplied in the MEK. At 128-192 kbps, the songs sound just perfect (and in stereo too!) when listening with the headphones at full volume. So sadly, any crappiness you hear in any songs is the fault of the Chocolate's crappy speaker.
mbdavies: My friend has a RAZR V3, and I was trying to send her a copy of one of my .mp3 ringtones. We tried a million ways to send it, but the attachment would never go through. After a little bit of research, we found that the RAZR doesn't accept MMS's larger than 100k. I'm not sure if this is a cripple from the provider (she uses Cingular) or from the phone itself. Try sending yourself a small .mp3 that's smaller than 100k and see if it goes through. Sadly, if it does, it really limits the kinds of songs you'll be able to listen to......

Bruno21: If you're lucky, you're having the same problem I ran into initially. I happen to store my songs and basically all my important data on a seperate hard drive, in case my main hard drive fails (oh the horror stories I could tell....). Anyways, I was getting the same error that you do, and was getting frustrated after trying everything I could think of for about 40 minutes.
Then for some reason I moved a few of my files to my main hard drive, for no reason, I was just running out of ideas and wanted to try everything. It was those files that ended up getting converted.
So.... like I said, if you're lucky, your situation is exactly like mine was and now you know exactly what to do. Sadly, if it doesn't work, then just go buy a card reader for about 15 bucks and just drag and drop them.

I found this on E-bay. Does anyone know if it works? They claim that this can do everything on the Chocolate.
I have a bluetooth-usb adapter but I just need the software.
