I recently bought the chocolate phone from verizon, and I follow the steps throughout the process until I reach a point in Bitpim or w.e where it says, "The access to /directory has been blocked by your provider"
What's a boy to do lol?

Onej, your phone has to be put in some sort of DM mode (whatever that is) first. To do that, simply transfer like a wallpaper from your phone to Bitpim and that will put your phone in DM Mode automatically. After you've done that, you should be able to drag and drop your shortened MP3 files like BitPim prompts you to and continue.

Everyone that gets a blank Pix message when emailing mp3 to phone
I was able to get select MP3's to my phone... not sure what the difference was between the one's that would work and the one's that didn't, but anyway. I noticed that my MP3 attachments were being converted to AAC's (at least the one's that worked). I tried converting the one's that didn't to AAC's myself but it didn't work. Okay long story short, rename the mp3 file before you send it. take off the .mp3 and replace it with .mid. I've successfully received 3 ringtones already that I couldn't without this method... and the sound quality is great. Do NOT convert the MP3 to midi, just rename it.

Sorry for the maybe dumb question and I'm sure it's been asked here before, but it's a very long thread and hard to read each page.
Anyway, I'm finding it very easy to email myself ringtones but not so easy to erase the ringtones I've previously mailed myself. If I've mailed myself a couple ringtones I no longer want how can I completely delete them? I can erase the message I received of course. But again it may be dumb but I can't seem to erase them from my ringtone screen itself. I only find "play" & "stop" as options there.

Get It Now | Get Tunes & Tones | My Ringtones
Select the ringtone and press the right softkey.
Choose erase.

Ah, very easy. I was using my settings menu to access the ringtones and I couldn't delete there. I didn't even think of checking the get it now menu. Thanks for the help.

I got the phone yesterday (July 18th) I tried the email method, worked fine, but I'd like toget around paying even 25cents fora ringtone.
I have a cable (no thingy inbetween, just a straight cable) and bitpim tells me It's blocked. I have version 1.0. I cannot put my phone into any mode, I tried syncing music, that didn't work. I tried transfering anything to or from my phone, but I get the same 'blocked' method.
Not sure what the work around is in this case, i want to avoid doing anything too crazy with it, as I saw suggestions of adding software to the phone structure earlier.

Gugmi01, You may want to start another thread for your question. This entire thread is about the the Chocolate LG8500 only.
