I read the post that said I could e-mail my phone the sound clip to use it as a ringotne.how long should it take before my phone recieves the text? and also.does it have to be in MP3 format? my computer will only let me send it in wav. Will that still work?

i just got the new chocolate phone (not the old version). i was able to cut a sound file and send it through bluetooth to my phone. it was automatically saved in the "my sounds" folder. however when i select the sound and go to options, it does not give me the option to set it as ringtone? is there a way to do this? nor does it give me the option to save the new file into the "my ringtones" folder when it is sent through bluetooth. i havent seen any posts addressing this on the new chocolate phones. step by step instructions would be great!

Phone LGVX8550- Chocolate
Providor- Verizon

i have the same phone and provider and was wondering how i send mp3s using bluetooth. whenever i try my mac says that my phone won't accept the file type, and the file won't send.

as to how to move the file from the my sounds folder:
Select the sound
Options (right softkey) ---> Send
Send it to yourself as a pix message
When you receive the message, go to options---> save as ringtone

now the file should be in the ringtones

I have been trying this for a couple of days now I just got a new LG Chocolate and am trying to get some midi sounds as ringers. I tried to email them to myself as a pix message with the sound file as an attachment from gmail, yahoo mail, and aol mail. They all get the same sort of bounce back notices.

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

[my address that I send to]
I can't put the real thing because the forum wont let me put in a URL

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 16): 550 SMTP connection refused

This comes back ONLY when I send a PIX message (as in vzwpix) WITH an attachment of a midi file. I can send just fine with both a text message (with or without attachments) and a PIX message WITHOUT attachment.

I also get one that says there was an invalid line in the header or body: 'GROW'. It seems random as to which bounceback notice I get but the point is that I cant send my ringtone to the phone. It just gets immediately bounced back to whichever email client I am sending from.

P.S. - In the above line I actually used my 10 digit phone number but blanked it out for privacy reasons. icon_shifty.gif

I have the LG 8600 also knows as LG chocolate flip.
Okay, so my sister sent me a ringtone that i want to actually set as a ringtone but i have no idea how (if it's even possible) icon_squint.gif

For now im still refusing to accept that it's impossibe, i mean it's just retarded if you cant.

So she sent me the ringtone via bluetooth and it is now saved in "sounds".
but i dont have the option to set it as a ringtone. wich really pisses me off cause the pre-installed ringtones suck, and buying one is like 5$ icon_neutral.gif .

Just so you guys know, it seems most people who have this phone are with verizon but i am not.

So i was just wondering if anyof you guys could help me, thanks.

Here's how to set up an LG phone to transfer files directly over Bluetooth.

1. On your phone: find the Bluetooth menu and set your phone so that it is "Discoverable"

2. On your computer: go to the Bluetooth menu and find new Bluetooth devices.

3. Use File transfer (on the computer Bluetooth menu) to move pictures or songs to your phone over Bluetooth.
Pictures must be .jpg format and for songs there is a trick: you need to rename the song extension as .qpc (replacing .mp3). Only renaming is necessary.
