Wait a second Bruno..... are you trying to put songs on your phone? Or just ringtones? Because if you're trying to put just ringtones on your phone, you don't need to do anything with WMP. If you have the ringtone ready, just mail it to your phone via yourtendigitnumber@vzwpix.com. That should work fine.

It depends on the plan you have. It only costs if you haven't added text/picture messages to your phone plan.

Bruno, its very easy. Just use whatever email you use to send the ringtone file as an attachment to your phone via yourtendigitnumber@vzwpix.com. When your email is sent, your phone will say you have a new message, and the phone will download the attachment along with it. After it's been downloaded and starts playing on your phone, you have the option of saving it.
If you have a card reader, you can do the same thing with your MicroSD card. First, make sure you've formatted the card by inserting into the phone once and letting it read it (that way, the phone creates the proper directories on the card for you). Now, using the card reader, go to the My_Music directory and drag and drop whatever music files you want into it. At the moment, I'm at work so I can't remember if you can use this method to import your ringtone files, but I'll check it when I get back home.

Hey thank you to everyone for putting down their input. Especially thank you to u Spunko. I did everything the way you said & I couldn't be happier with my new chocalate phone. The only problem now is that when I tried to do some new ringtones after like three weeks, the WavePad program says that my free trial period is over.
You had mentioned it being free and I really like the program, how can I get it for free?

hey spunko, you seem to know alot about phones, but could you give me a walkthrough on the email method?
i downloaded wavepad. great program.
but i have no idea how to convert the mp3 into a ring tone in order to send it to my phone. this is my first time messing with wavepad, so im kinda lost.
are there certain steps i should be taking to use wavepad to convert the mp3's?
reason i need to try this out asap is becuase i only have a few days to test out the phone before i can no longer return it. so please, hit me up asap.

dcutieboy07 (sorry if I shudder a little bit everytime I look at your name ): Yeah, when I wrote that post a couple of weeks ago, it seemed perfectly fine. The site said it was free to use, not just to try. Then I got hit with the time limit. I'm still looking for a (legal) way to acquire it for free, but till then, I'm just sticking with Audacity. It's a good program too, but I don't like the fact that you have to download and install the .mp3 encoder seperately, which might intimidate or frustrate some newbies who are used to the stuff. Just go use Audacity. If I find something legal, I'll write about it.
minime10203: Converting an .mp3 into a ringtone is fairly easy with Wavepad. All you have to is trim the song down to the desired 10-30 seconds of the song you want to hear when the phone rings ( I believe the term is "Crop" on Wavepad, just highlight the portions you want to save, and then crop the rest). Then save it under another name (keep it as an .mp3 though). Hopefully the new song will be under 350k, if not, just lower the bit rate a bit (96kbps usually works for any of my songs, and doesn't affect how it sounds on the phone anyways) and resave.
After you've got your file, use your favorite email (Yahoo, Gmail, your business email, etc., it doesn't matter), and email your song via attachment to yourtendigitnumber@vzwpix.com.
When the phone receives the message, when you open it, it will download the song and start playing. You then have the option to save the song. And that's that.
Whew, maybe I should start petitioning to get this forum topic stickied, or write up a new one with step by step instructions for EVERYTHING. Hehe.

heh you should get them stickied, seriously.
im very computer savvy, but when it comes to using programs like wavepad that iv never even laid eyes on, it gets tricky. add in the fact that im on a small trial period, with little time to experiment, and it gets worse.
i really appreciate the time taken to type all that out. im gonna try it tonight with a few songs.
