I am beginning to hate verizon and all they stand for! It's a 24/7 job just to get their freakin phone to work right. every step I have to take back to them and fix.
I purchased their music essentials kit with a usb cable for the 8300 phone and when I plug it in and go to Get tunes and tones>>>6. sync music, it looks for a while and then says to check the cable. I have tried every usb port and tried turning off the computer and phone, plugging it in and turning them back on...tried turning them off and on and THEN plugging it back up...NOTHING!!!
In win explorer, I get a directory for the phone with a plus sign beside it, but when I click on it, the plus sign disappears and the highlight skips back up to the c: drive.
Any suggestions besides throwing the blasted phone against the wall and watching it smash to pieces just for the heck of it, which is my next move???
I realize I'm sounding a bit frustated, but I've spent all day reading posts, trying different computers, everything.
Yes, I installed the drivers in the music essentials kit, I tried reformatting the card (which I find out takes up more space the more you do it), I tried everything.
I'll give a big cyber hug to the person who can help me.

This does NOT make sense! It shows up in Bitpim, and in the divice manager but does NOT show up in the Windows directory or in the media player. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and nothing.
OK, you want a rating? Here it is, Folks: DO NOT GO WITH VERIZON!!! I've had nothing but headaches with them. They're money-hungry thieves who will sell crap you have to take back several times to get any satasfaction. It's a 25 minute drive to the nearest verizon and I've had to travel there several times over phone issues that should have been taken care of when I purchased the phone. Now I have to make another trip and this time they are going to give me a rebate!!
I'm not upgrading with them in two years. I'll find another carrier.

I just got the LG VX8300 and I want to transfer music from my computer onto the phone. I really don't want to buy the music pack when I know I probably have all of the equipment. Does anybody know the specifications for the USB cable? Or if not, how hard would it be for me to get just the cable? I really only want a few songs, so I don't think I need a whole microSD card, which is my other option. Any help? Please and thank you!

I'm having the same problem with the 8300. It has to be in the drivers for the phone. I can get it to work on my son's computer but not on my HP. If you watch the device manager, when you try to sync it will come up with the vcast phone but it cant find the software(drivers) and ask to install the software. And I think the card situation is correct. I had a brand new 2g card and I formatted it a couple of times and now I have a 966 meg card. I'm currently trying to solve this with verision. If I can solove it, Ill put a new post
