I have been a good Verizon customer for over 7 years - I have talked others into going Verizon many times because they are a good service - however, I have never made it to the new every two program and this time I did. Ok, I go into the store and I am thinking of getting the Chocolate for 49.99 as adverstised. I looked at it but it really was not for me - so I looked around and found another phone I liked - the VG8300 - ok the phone was advertised as 99.95 before a 50.00 manuafacturs rebate. So basically a 100.00 dollar phone - the sales person tells me I have to pay for the rebate and then I get the credit of 50.00 WHAT??? excuse me? First of all, the rebate is offered to me - the customer as an incentive to buy the phone! It is not offered to Verizon and yet they are getting the benefit of it!!! That phone is 100.00 and I should get it free! I really do not care about the rebate and i did not even know it existed until the sales person told me!!!!! I am incensed and I do not feel that Veersizon is doing me any favors by offering the discounts on phones - trust me they are not losing any money - so my NET credit is reduced becasue the phone happens to have a rebate on it?? Unbelievable! Then she tells me that if I go online I can get it free because they give the instant credit for the rebate!! I do not need credit for the rebate!! The rebate is mine as the customer of the phone!! So I ask hte girl - you mean that if I buy it online I can still send away for the rebate? She says oh no - So verizon is getting those rebates that are offered to the customers!! Arrgh! I have never been so unhappy with them in the whole time I have had this service

ok - if someone walks in off the street to get this phone it costs 99.95 with out the rebate and without any accessories - so basically the phone is 49.95 after the 50.00 dollar rebate - the guy off the street has to pay the 99.95 but then gets a rebate of 50.00. If I go in the store and buy the phone I have to pay the 50.00 and then I get the 50.00 rebate. Where is my new every two bonus? In other words they are reducing my bonus to 49.95 because I will get a rebate. My point is that the rebate is offered by the manuafactur - it is a bonus for purchasing the phone! Not to Verizon - to me! Actually I did not even know about the rebate but why should I have to pay 50.00 and then to get a rebate on a 100.00 phone when I have a 100 credit on new every 2? Then If I go online and order the phone the price becomes 119.00 - Verizon gives me an instant rebate of 50.00 and then 69.99 from the new every two and so the phone is free - ok but what is Verizon "giving" me the 50.00 dollar rebate free - I do not think so...if I buy the phone online I do not get the rebate because Verizon already gave it to me automatically - believe me they are getting the rebate. It makes no sense - if I go into the Verizon store to get a 100 phone I should not have to apy 50 and wait for a rebate!

No the phone in the verizon store is not 149.00 before the rebate - in the verizon store they are advertising the phone for 49.95 after the rebate (with no accessories) - that makes the phone 99.95 which means that I should get the phone free - but instead Verizon is subtracting the rebate from my NET and then giving me credit for 49.95 of my NET and then I get MY OWN 50.00 back.

The rebate your speaking of is a Verizon sponsered rebate and not the manufacturer. As with all rebates, they could be taken off at the point of sale but that's not how it seems to work with any rebate. The rebate exists as an incentive for anyone eligible for a 2 year agreement (can possibly vary by market). It is not for, someone buyng full cash or even 1 year agreements. It is a specific two year incentive and thus why it is not universally offered. To that end, if someone does a shareline, it gets the rebate on a 2 year agreement.

So, I bought a garbage disposal from Sears from one oftheir house brands and sent in the MIR. They could've given that to me at the point of sale. They don't. Common practice.

You'r demonizing Verizon for what is a common practice across any number of industries. I don't know that it seem too fair to be so harsh with VZ, they do what others do.

Instead of looking at this as 'Hmmm, Verizon gave me an extra $50 bucks off of this phone', you're looking at it from a perspective of entitlement.

The MIR must be available to all that qualify and when the circumstance is right, can be combined with your New Every Two for a free phone.

I guess that is the difference in how we look at it - I DO look at it as an entitlement - it is a contract between Verizon and I - they said if you agree to a 2 year contract and pay for 4 phones for two years as a good customer we will give you up to 100 dollars on a phone - that was the agreement - I kept my part now it is my turn to get the benefit of doing my part -a nd as a matter of fact, I have kept up my part for 7 years. All I am saying is that there were no exceptions to my part of the agreement - I did not get to discount my bill at any time - but when it comes to Verizon fufilling the part of the contract they get to discount my bonus - not fair! And I am the one dishing out all the money each month - and the customer service has gottem worse int he 7 years not better.

oh by the way....5 Verizon people in the last 2 days have told me that it is a manufacturer rebate - not a Verizon sponsered one - and if you buy it online Verizon does get the rebate they are not out the 50 dollars - they file the rebate

talk about only seeing what you want to see - I was not talking about the Chololate - reread the first post - besides people see the world and what occurs in it differently - the phone I have been talking about IS a 100 dollar phone
