I just got the new 8300 and since I had a microsd laying around I thought I'd transfer over some mp3s and use them as ringtones. Fat chance.
My question is can I transfer mp3s into my phone using the card and make them my ringtones. If it is...How?
Oh I've enabled mp3s using the mothod you guys supplied in the newbs thread but this wasn't answered
Thanks in advance

First of all, make sure you format the card with your phone by choosing Settings & Tools and then choose Memory then Card Memory then Options(lower right corner of screen). Second of all, if you have a card reader create a folder on your card and name it ringers. Any ringtones you make you will put in the ringers folder from PC. Remember to keep your ringtones at 30 seconds or less, this can be done by using a free program called Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Last of all, you will need a free program called Bitpim to transfer your ringtones & a Data cable for your phone. Go to www.bitpim.org/help to see how to setup your phone.
Hope This Helps

Can you provide any further insight into using the Audacity program? I've downloaded it, but being technologically challenged (and old, to boot) I could use some further explanation of how to shorten my music into 30 second ringtones.
Thanks for any help.

You can find the step by step here. http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic48042.html
There is one more thing you need to download so that you can export as mp3's. It's call lame

That step by step link was great Best, but I'm still having problems with the Audacity program. When I load the song I want to make into a ringtone into the program, it sounds like it's playing at 100X speed. When I shorten it and e-mail it to my phone it sounds the same way. What am I not adjusting in the Audacity program to fix this?
Thanks again.

In Audacity choose Edit and then Preference the chose Quality. You will see a box that has Default Sample Rate: make sure it is set to 44100hz. Also once you import your music into the Audacity, over to the left you'll see something that say Stereo, Hz, and bits. click on the black pointer then go to set rate and choose 44100hz. the Format should be set to 32bits.
