I recently synched two song files into my phone's internal memory. When I found out they wouldn't play because it wasn't compatible I tried to delete them but I got an error message everytime I tried. So I turned off the phone and tried again. When I use Realplayer it shows no files on my phone but it still says that "X" amount of memory has been used.
For example when I check the memory usage it says this:
Total Used: 14107KB
Availible:18119KB
Yet when I try to add more songs which are about 3MB in size, it says there's no room.
This has been bothering me for about a while now.
Is there a way to format the internal memory like you would a memory card?

Yes. Put the card in the phone. Format it in your phone (assuming you have 8300): Settings and Tools>>>Memory (#eight)>>>Card memory (#3)>>>Options (right soft key)>>>Format card.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I said I have a VX8100, and I know how to format a memory card. I'm asking how to format the phone's internal memory. Thanks for trying though.
