Hi - just wondered if anyone else had experienced serious battery problems with the N70? I've had the handset for just over a month, and am finding it needs charging every day (in fact it rarely lasts 24hrs). Recently, it had even died by midday, having been on charge all night - in the meantime, it had been used for one 2-minute call, and 2 texts (and I'd even turned Bluetooth off). I fully charged the battery when new, and have even bought extra batteries, with the same problems.
I returned the handset to my operator last week, who have replaced it - and the replacement has exactly the same problems.
Any thoughts on this? The only change I've made is I'm using a cheap 1Gb memory card - though this shouldn't drain the battery, should it?
(for the record, I'm on O2 contract in the UK, and use the phone in an area that has had excellent reception for years - never had a problem with any previous Nokia model)

Some standard questions and answers...
Is the security feature active? If yes, deactivate it.
Do you close every app/game correctly? Don't press the red button to close a program, it will only put the app/game in the background and keeps on running.
Do you have apps installed which run continuously in the background like Fullscreen caller, blacklist, video ringtone, psiloc screensaver, and so on?
The drain the battery really quick when installed on the memory card.
When installed in the internal memory the power consumption is higly reduced.
(The memory card only receives energy when it is used. If it isn't used it won't drain any energy).

Hi - thanks for the advice.
Security feature isn't active - and I don't actually use games or applications. Just have the default screensaver at the moment.
It's weird - I've spoken to Nokia about it, and they've suggested I take it along to a local service centre. I'll give that a go on Saturday. In the meantime, I'll just charge it a couple more times!
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Try removing your MMC and rebooting your moible without card. Using your mobile without your MMC. See whether your battery life still very short. Maybe you got a problem MMC (cheap because it made in china). Removing your MMC will also stop some application executing and running at background upon powerup. Try and tell us the outcome.

Ok mate heres the answer to your battery problem. Just like windows has the taskmanager which may run programs in the background without you knowing, the n70 also has its own task manager. If you take your phone out of your pocket for instance and accidentally slide open the camera and then shut it again, the program 'camera 'on the phone will continue to run and suck the life out of your nokia. The same goes for the 'log' and 'gallery' etc. THerefore you need a program where you can teminate these applications, just like you can weith task manager in windows. I reccomend FExplorer-its availble all over the net.[/img]

Your phone's OS might be unstable. You probably just need to update the firmware to the newest version available.
Nokia is breaking out with N-Series in force. Only thing is that they tend to be unstable when they 1st come out, so there's usually the battery issue, among other things. Just look at the complaints with the N80. I wonder how the N95 will fare.
