I'm not sure what download you meant, but the safest way is to use the Software Updater application from Nokia PC Suite. It will download the appropriate firmware for your phone and perform the update.
I'm not a fan of using antivirus for phone. But that's because I don't try many applications for my phone, almost never use bluetooth in public, and I trust the messages that are sent to me
