i have an i870 from nextel and am thinking about switching to verizon. i've had nextel for 2 years, i'm sick of never having a signal and calls dropping within 5 minutes. i really want the new chocolate by lg since it has an mp3 player and all but is that good choice if i want a phone with a good signal? i would appreciate it if anybody who has this phone could tell me a little bit about their experience with it.

I've had no issues with signal strength with my chocolate. Hoping the horrid battery life mine suffers is because of a bad battery and not something thats "common".
But you od have 15 days to try it out. I recommend taking full advantage of those 15 days to make sure its what you want.

Don't get the chocolate, i had it and hated it. I would wait until a newer version of the chocolate comes out.

I really wouldn't recommend buying anything LG. I have heard and experienced several complaints about the battery life of their products. I would also ask around about Verizon's coverage in your area. I would say that it is about the same as Nextel's in reliability, but Verizon doesn't compare in customer service!! Please do more research before switching to Verizon!!!

You're right, Notafan, we don't compare to Sprint/Nextel in customer service. As a matter of fact, we've beaten them 4 quarters in a row. So there is no comparison. Look, I'm sorry you had a negative experience. I wish that I had the chance to turn you around before you left. But you're gone now, and it's too late. I'm sorry you had such a bad taste in your mouth, I really am. But my goodness, don't let it eat at you like this.

Oh goodness... I assure you that this has not consumed me in any way. I was merely doing a little surfing of the web when I found this discussion forum. I thought I'd give the people something of interest beyond your boring JD Power jargon. It's not really a discussion if someone doesn't banter back and forth with you.
Go ahead, continue the blah blah blahs... and I'll continue speaking from life experience. I'm sure it's a lot easier to deal with the problems when you only have to deal with your own rudeness...

Life experience. OK, let's. I've had Bell Atlantic Mobile right out of college--I've had T-Mobile, Alltel, and Verizon Wireless. Personally, from life experience, I've had the best call quality from Verizon Wireless. I can't really speak to the customer service as a consumer, as I haven't had to contact customer service yet. Alltel's customer service reeked, and I had both good and bad with T-Mobile.
Now, not knowing the specifics of your situation, I can't speak to your experience. Again, I wish that I had spoken with you and tried to work it out. But, I guess it's too late for that.
By the way, I apologize for my defensiveness earlier.

okay and we deal with your ignorance, how many people who have sprint, complain to me about sprint/nextel customer service I have truly lost count. the fact that sprint has started outsourcing their customer service says alot. sprint has always been interested in just the money part of the business as a former customer I can attest to that. Thats why their recent quaterly results which were very poor showed their weakness. Their customer service constantly ranks low. Their churn is twice as high as vzw. Thats why they announced their accelerated revision a to draw attention away from their failings as a company. Every cell company isn't perfect, as their employees are human and are by nature flawed. At Verizon there is a constant strive towards providing first call resolution and doing what is best for the customer. But hey mistakes do happen, and customers who simply dont understand that nobodys perfect well hey thats your problem.
