Does anyone have a problem with a bunch of noise between songs, like the amp turns on and off. I have tried 2 phones both with the same issue… very annoying! Also has anyone been able to see MP3 tag info on your phone?

No, I have not heard pops between songs on mine.
Yes, Mine appears to read the ID3 tags.
If I go to "My Music" it has Artists, Genres, Albums as options for searching my music.
The info is from the ID3 Tags.
Also if I go to "All Songs" for example, and highlight a song, then options, #5 is an option for song info and it shows the Album name, artist, Genre...

I can get the ID3 Tag info on WMAs but not MP3s... also, if I use the verizon software to move files to my SD card it puts them in folders - artist, album, song; and my phone doesn't see them. I have to put all the tracks into the my_music folder which is a big list on a 2 G card.

Maybe it's the version of the ID3 tags? I don't see info either. Using iTunes and ID3 v2.2 for tags. Maybe the chocolate uses an earlier (or later) version? Can anyone that can see info confirm what version ID3 tags they use?

For a phone billed as an MP3 player it is a big disappointment all the way around... I'll never buy anything from LG again.

I'm beggining to feel the same way. There has got to be a phone out there that you can move MP3 files to easily and quickly and still have decent battery life.
Anyone got any suggestions on what to buy that's better than the LG VX8500 and about the same price?

I have the new Mint Chocolate and I am very happy with most parts of it.
I use a 64bit windows, and therefore the driver for the MEK didn't work, but when i open the phone to synch, WMP10 still recognizes my phone and can synch. Some files it can't convert, but it hasn't been a huge issue.
I notice the popping noises a lot myself and I wonder what it is.
I have another problem though, my phone locks up sometimes when trying to play a song and the only way to get it to react is to remove the battery. Anyone else have this problem?

I finally got my cherry chocolate to work with the sync. I had to google for a driver for my computer and once I restarted, the sync worked flawlessly. The driver that comes in the Music Essentials Kit apparently does not work. Battery life is getting better! I've never heard any pops. My MP3's sound better than the one V-cast song I bought and I'll never buy another. My phone has only locked up when it goes to a MP3 file that is corrupt. Review the info of each song under options to see that there are actually bytes there. Sometimes a song artist & title transfers without the real file.
With all the looks I get from people -- I might just keep this little cherry!

I really have no complaints about the phone at all now that I got the mp3 transfer thing worked out, and I'm on a Mac (not supported by the Music Essentials software). I think if I can get over having to purchase a microSD card / reader just to listen to songs at the gym, anyone should be able to. That's really the only issue I have had with the phone. That and Bluetooth headphones cost so much, but that would be the same no matter what phone I bought.
And as far as V-cast song quality: I wouldn't go that route either. All of the digital music providers have pretty horrible sound quality (iTunes, Napster, etc). I usually buy CD's and rip them at 192kbps to guarantee they sound right. But I'm pretty finicky about that stuff. That and V-cast would never carry the type of music I am in to.
