I'm an old AT&T customer and I got a letter a couple of weeks ago from Cingular suggesting that I switch to Cingular Nationwide. The letter included an insert with a choice two phones, either of which would be free with a plan staring at $29.99. I went to Cingular dealer and he had never heard of a $29.99 plan. He called customer service and finally got someone who acknowleged there was such a plan but that it was't online. She told the dealer to sign me up at $39.99 and then call back and customer service would switch me over to the $29.99 plan. We went through the paperwork and phone set-up and then called Cingular back. We couldn't locate the rep we spoke to previously and everyone else we spoke to stonewalled us. I went to another Cingular shop and no one there had heard of a $29.99 plan.
I think I've been scammed by Cingular. Anyone else get that offer for a free phone with a $29.99 plan?

it is available. it's best to do it through customer care. it's not available for everybody, that's why it's not widely advertised besides to people who are eligble (such as yourself via mail-out).
29.99
1000 N&W minutes
200 anytime minutes
some people get minute promos as well.

I tried again myself through customer care after reading your post. Bingo!
Still, the letter I got had no phone number to call and suggested I go to a Cingular phone center. They ought to pass the word :-v

There is in fact a $29.95 plan
I started with that about 1 year
ago. However, it is only 250 Minutes
with No Rollover and I am not 100%
certain if you get Free Mobile to Mobile
with that plan ... Still for some folks,
that is a good choice

I just upgraded to the GSM V1 phone. I had the 29.99 plan with 250 min
and 35000 n and weekends. I called customer care, and the cancellation dept., and she made a promise I could keep what I had. I spoke also to another rep who made this promise and noted it into my acct.
I got my phone and called to activate it, and went online to look.
It shows my new phone and my exact same rate plan. When I looked at my direct paid bill it reflected the 18.00 upgrade charge, I also got this taken off, by customer service since that was promised also to me.
The store cannot do a 29.99 plan, but customer service can.

29.99 plan, after reading these posts, I went on line to check my plan.
Cingular had taken away my 29.99 plan and put me on the 39.99 plan.
I called cust service, and they just put me back on the old 29.99 plan.
200 min and 1000 n and weekends. I liked my old plan better, but
rather than pay 4.95 for the old tdma plan I said ok. Funny my old plan was working fine with the old tdma plan.
