Apologies if this has been covered before (I checked recent topics and couldn't find much mention of it). I recently bought an LX 8300, along with the Verizon Music Kit and a 2 gb transflash card. Upon putting the card into the phone, I realized it was only showing 1 gb of space available. I was wondering if there was a way to properly format the card so that all 2 gb of space can be used as opposed to, uh, half of the card.
Thanks!

Your post is very helpful. We've been wondering if a 2GB micro card would work in the 8300.
Verizon claims it can only handle a 1GB card or less. Some reviews claim it can handle 2Gb (but this was out before the card was even available).
You can try formatting the card in the phone under Settings and Tools>>>Memory>>>Card memory (then right soft key), but my guess is it won't help. For your sake, I hope it does.
Good luck!

After a format on the phone, the memory card still shows only 1 gb of space available. As you point out, this is not particularly surprising (though unfortunate, especially considering Verizon sold me the 2 gb card).
I've read somewhere that all 2 gb may be used if the card is formatted properly on the computer prior to use on the cell phone (via re-formatting the card and getting rid of the 1 gb partitions) and adding the proper directories (e.g, my_music). I will be testing this in the next couple days.
I'm open to any suggestions.
Cheers!

If it doesn't work, return it for a refund. They shouldn't have sold it to you in the first place.

Try using this free program called Swissknife to format the card, then put all of your folders on the card, put the card back in the phone, turn the phone off then back on and the 2gb should be there.

did formatting the card using Swissknife work at all, i'm in the process of buying a 2gb micro card thats on sale this week, but I don't see a point if I can only use half of it... T_T Also, i read reports of battery problems and I'm wondering if they correlate with the flash memory capacity you have installed? Does a higher micro Card (2gb) drain more battery power as opposed to a lighter one (512mb) since its constantly reading a bigger card? EX.
I have an old Samsung phone (2yr old) that would last for a while on one charge, but I recently began playing w/ ringtones through the PixMsg and E-mail and noticed my phone can't hold a day's charge now that I saved a couple ringtones.

I would like to know also what the largest capacity card is. No sense in buying a two if can only use half of it. I just bought a one which was on sale and may end up buying another one if they go on sale again if the two cards won't work.

I had the same problem with my Samsung SCHa930. I had a 2GB card, first formatted on a PC, it showed 2GB, then, because I didn't know what all the folders that were that needed to be on there, I re-formatted the card using the phone. That's when it showed only 1GB. I was told by Verizon that this phone could handle 2GB. I tried reformatting the card on my PC with no luck.
I downloaded SwissKnife for free (as suggested above) and did a full format, and the full 2GBs are back!
THANKS FOR THE HELP!
