I am confused by all the data cable options for the LG VX8300. Verizon has the "office" one and the "music" one. Does anyone know if they can both be used with BitPim or similar? The cables on eBay have me worried they'll damage the phone because every auction says theirs is the only good one. It's starting to make me a little crazy so I would appreciate your help.

I bought this cable, so I know it works. The end of the cable was keyed for older phones. They did a pretty good job of trimming it down, but you may need to do a little bit more work on it when you get it to make sure it slides in and out of your phone smoothly.

It comes with a CD that has drivers and BitPim on it, but they have a link for an update package that bundles all the drivers and latest version of BitPim together - works like a charm.

While looking for a cable to be able to try BitPim, I saw that the Music Essential Kit was on sale, from Verizonwireless.com, for $20. My hope is that the cable supplied for music will work as a data cable.

Also, the kit includes a stereo-headse.
Ijust hope that it works!

I've looked around this forum and it seems that it is not possible to transfer files using the bluetooth on the verizon vx8300. Have you somehow found a way around this? If so, I would truly appreciate some help in enabling my phone to transfer files to and from other phones and my pc. Thanks a lot!

You absolutely can use Bluetooth and BitPim to transfer files to and from the vx8300. Once you've successfully paired your phone with BT, and give BitPim the info it needs about your phone and COM port used, you should be set. Just make sure your phone is on throughout the process.

You probably don't have the correct phone drivers for your computer. Bit pim should automatically know what com port the USB jack is using. But if you want to just transfer Music or video files, you should buy a microSD memory card, place it into the phone to format it, then take it out plug it directly into your computer, (or buy an external SD card reader), and drag & drop the files onto the card. This method is much quicker than using a data cable or Bluetooth.
