I'm a greeter at a Cingular store, and there is this lady that has come in so many times in the last month that I feel kind of sorry for her. Since everyone where I am is sales, who know's if what they tell her is 100% true, so I thought I'd ask here, just to see if they're right.
She used her old PAC BELL wireless sim in her Cingular phone for a long time. Right after the sim upgrade in July, she says that she has all these wierd calls and downloads on her bill, and that tech support told her that 2 phones are using her number. Everyone here thinks she's crazy, but she is convinced that her old sim was stolen or cloned??? Supposedly no one can look up the old PAC BELL sim # (it's written down on her old contract) in any system to prove that it's dead.
Is that true?

PAC Bell was taken over by Cingular I do believe... if the SIM is active customer care can take care of it...

She's been through customer service and tech support {I've heard her story a lot of times! :^) } She has a new Cingular sim card in her phone, but she still thinks that her old sim is out there somewhere using her account.
That's why the reps think she's crazy - because 2 sims can't use the same phone #. But no one can prove it to her, because no one can type in her old PAC BELL sim # and prove it's deactivated.

Since everyone is in sales who know if what they tell her is 100 % true???? B/c evrybody in sales is a liar right? Why would they lie about that? Its not making them any money? And yes there is no way for a sales rep to look that up.

Wow - sorry, I probably didn't say it right. The sales reps are fine but they're not techs, and they don't have the time to deal with her (we have a really busy store). Plus they don't have that access, like you said. They're not liars, but if someone is rude or stupid, they play tricks and mess with them a little!
Let me try this again: Everyone has tried explaining to her that 2 sims can't use the same phone #, but she doesn't understand why. She wants someone to look up her old sim card and prove that it's deactivated, but when she calls tech support and customer service no one can look up her old PAC BELL sim #.
I was just hoping that maybe there was a name of a system or a program that can do this.

hmmm... about the only way that I can think of to explain it...
the SIM is a 1 time use item... once de-activated it cannot be re-ativated...
there is a very rare error that can have 2 different sims on the same number ...this can be traced by customer care/tech... I have seen it only twice in almost 6 years... the number tracking system for new services on a very rare occaision will release an active number to a new customer...if this is the case (possible but very unlikely) she would have more problems than just some irregular billing
has she been getting a lot of wrong numbers dialing her phone?...is she getting voicemail from a lot of people she doesnt know?... is she the only user of the phone?
a better route is to disable the ability to bill to phone things like ringtones and graphics... disable text messaging and place a password on the account... I'm willing to bet her problem will dissappear at about the same time
