Late last year and at the beginning of this year I was an active Moto hacker and had all the p2k tools and other various apps working with my V3. I've recently decided to mod my phone again, and most of the p2k tools crash. p2k commander crashes once in a while when I'm uploading directories, newp2k instantaneously crashes when I open it if my phone is connected or disconnected, and all the p2ktools either don't detect my phone or they instantaneously crash when I open them.
What I have installed:
Newest Moto Phone Tools (works)
Newest Moto PST (works)
Moto drivers 2.9 from Motomodders
All the p2k apps I have tried are also from Motomodders. If I try to install the included drivers with the p2k apps by right clicking on them and hitting "Install," the p2k apps still crash, and Moto Phone Tools and Moto PST will no longer detect my phone.
Only other relevant info I can think of is my phone is running the factory flash and flex (I reset it a while back) and I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 fully patched. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers and Moto apps in different orders without success. Without installing the Moto 2.9 drivers from MM, p2k commander won't see my phone.
Any tips? Thanks much for any help!

I would remove all the drivers (http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/cdigiamo/tutorial/v220/rev.html)
Then start again following the getting connected page at http://www.themotoguide.com

Problem. Downloaded the program in the tutorial (which has changed names, but is apparently still the same thing), pointed it to the drivers included, and windows tells me the modem cannot be installed. I need to use devshowall.bat to go in and delete the modem before I can attempt to reinstall drivers. I've tried three times now and the drivers are invalid.
Leaves me with MPT and PST to install drivers which work for those two apps and p2k commander, but no other apps. Any other suggestions?

Try downloading Motorola USB Driver from http://developer.motorola.com/?path=1.2.6.30 and use this to completely "clean" any existing drivers before starting again

Sorry for taking so long, but I've been having computer issues. Installed the latest nVidia video driver, something went horribly awry, and I had to reinstall Windows. Luckily, I didn't lose any data.
Anyhow, I downloaded the newest drivers for Moto, made sure my system was clean from old drivers, and installed them.
newp2k and all p2ktools still crash whether phone is connected or not, p2kcommander works fine (except when uploading directories - not even sure if the program allows it though), pst and mpt work fine, p2kman works, midway works. I have more or less everything I need for uploading/downloading/seem edits, I'd just like to resolve the p2ktools crashes. None I've found work. They all crash no matter what.
Thanks for the help!
