Using P2Kmanager I have removed the startup and shutdown mp3's that Cingular had on this V3. I have uploaded a 25 second clip in mp3 format with the correct names in the audio folder.

When I start the phone, I first see the HelloMoto screen and then it goes directly to the phone desktop. No startup sound or picture. I have added both a new gif picture and an mp3 startup sound but don't see anything.

Second I also added a shutdown picture and the same mp3 as for startup and at shutdown I only hear the mp3 for about 2 seconds which is about the amount of time the shutdown gif picture is displayed and then the phone turns off.

Any idea how to get the phone to play the entire 25 second mp3 and display the startup and shutdown gif pictures for that same amount of time before the phone goes to the desktop and when it is turning off?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You cannot increase the shutdown time - it will shutdown in the time it takes - you need to match the mp3 to that

The easiest way to set the startup and shutdown is with the startup and powerdown style menu option in motokit

Thanks for the information. Your reply brings up a different question.
It appears to me that when I eliminate the startup and shutdown gif animations that Cingular had on the phone before I changed them, it took longer for the phone to turn on or off as you had to wait for the animation to finish.

With that in mind, by simply putting in a static gif in place of the animated Cingular one have I now decreased the time it takes the phone to turn on and off. It seems it turns on and off much faster now that I have substitued a plain gif file for the Cingular animation.

If the phone now turns on and off faster than before that would mean I would need to create an animated gif that lasts the approximately 25 seconds that my startup and shutdown mp3 lasts.

Does that sound correct?

Thanks again for your help.

Experiment a little until you find the right balance. Good luck

Well my animated startup works great with the 25 second mp3 clip I wanted to use.

Curious if you know how to adjust the volume of the startup mp3? I tried the volume on the side of the V3 but it has no affect. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks again.

You could edit the gain table - there are some recommended levels at http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt

GPTE (http://www.motomodding.com/vault/software/GPTE_v1.0_Final.zip)

is probably the easiest way to do this

Thanks again for all your help.

Last question, well maybe not : icon_smile.gif

Can you remove the Hellomoto splash screen when you turn the phone on? I have tried different seem edits but it never changes or goes away. I have also read that you should NOT remove this.

Any ideas you have on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You can change it - but its not simple seem editing.

First of all you must downgrade the bootloader to 7.D0 - the simplest way to do this is flash with the file found at http://www.poeticfolly.com/motoguide/gurus/unlockit/bl_826-828_to_07d0 _for_V3_by_Archy.V2.shx

You then have choice of two methods. The method I use is to flash with a modified firmware - you have the choice of 42.10R and 42.17R - if you want to go ahead I will get you a link.

You will then need to modify your chosen drm using SHXCodec - place your chosen splashscreen in locations 65 and 66

Its not something I would recommend as a first mod but isn't quite as scary as it sounds

A link would be great. I have become comfortable with modding this phone. Any difference in using 42.10R or 42.17R? I have already downgraded the bootloader to 7.D0 to enable me to unlock the phone so good to go there.

Thanks for your help.
