I recently acquired a V3 locked to Cingular and was going to unlock it. After failing, I tried to take the easy way out and signed up with GSMLiberty to have it unlocked. Their method failed and I was on the phone with their tech support for an hour before they gave up. Next off to a tech who unlocks phones, same result, he passed it to another guy who wound up with the same result. The phone will communicate with any program (MPT, RSD, P2K etc) until it shifts to Boot Loader screen. I have loaded and reloaded drivers, battery is fully charged tried it on two computers (running Xp) tried different cables, always with the same result. Phone always communicates until it shifts to Boot Loader screen. If I start the phone in Boot Loader mode it is not recognized by the computer.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Sounds like you are missing the flash interface driver. Is there anything shown in device manager when in bootloader with RSD Lite running?

Thanks for the reply,
Device manager show a Motorola USB Modem when the phone is in normal mode and connected with any of the programs running. When any of the programs shift the phone into Boot Loader screen, the entry in device manager goes away. I have watched it with Device Manager open while that is happening. One of the people that I had look at it hooked it up to a black box and it would not communicate with the phone in Boot Loader mode either. It's like the phone will communicate through the port until shifted to Boot Loader mode and it ends all communication

It should only show as USB modem when in AT (MPT) mode. When you switch to P2k mode it should show with 3 devices under Motorola USB Device category header. Then when the phone is switched to bootloader it should remain in that category but with a single device (motorola flash interface)
Does it prompt for driver installation?

No it never does prompt for driver installation, that was the thing that had GSMLiberty tech puzzled too. No matter if a program shifts it to bootloader or if you manually start it in bootloader, it never prompts for driver. have tried starting phone, then hooking up cable, starting phone with cable hooked up, removing battery and holding *# inserting battery, every combination that I could come up with, same result. By the way, bootloader screen reads:
Boot Loader
08.26
SW Version:
R374_G_0E.41.C
3R_B
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

Try this:
open regedit
goto hkey local MAchine \ System \ Enum \
Here you will have control set (I have controlset1, 2 and curent control set)
In each of them a folder called VID22b ... will be there.
check different places in this folder under all control sets. Wherever USBCCGP is mentioned turn it into USBHUB.
Then close registry and do the whole process again. Now your phone should be detected properly, and reconnect a last time.
If that doesn't help try following http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/cdigiamo/tutorial/v220/rev.html and see if that helps.

mikekay10 Thanks so much for all of your help with this, still is responding the same way. I had called Cingular to ask for the Subsidy Unlock code and they said they are providing it, I expect it any day, but that still does not address the inability to communicate with the phone in bootloader mode. So I'll wait a day or so to see if it does indeed arrive. I'll post as soon as I hear something.
Old_Fool I may be taking you up on that offer shortly.

Update: I'm trying to get a refund from GSMLiberty and Cingular sent an unlock code for the phone, so the phone is unlocked, but it still will not communicate with the pc when it shifts to boot loader mode. All programs that communicate with it in normal mode work fine. Do you think that there is a defect in the phone, or in the phones software?
I'm happy that it's working, but would like to flash it.

I've had my cingular razr v3 for over a year now, but when i turned it on it would on flash on and off, repeatively. Then I tried holding the * and # buttons and it went to a black screen stating " Boot loader 07.e0 SW version re74_g_0e.40.57r_a1" then followed by "battery OK Ok to program connect USB data cable" I don't know much about modifying and such and I've ony used the phone to make calls etc... Is there any way to fix it? Thanks.
