Hi,
my dad is currently on the family shareplan and he is considering adding another line for me for 9.99$. However, he is reluctant to do it because he believes that if he adds another line, it will renew his contract for another year. Can anyone give any information about how adding another line will affect the term of the contract, if at all? Thanks

His contract would be extended, unless he's already on a family share plan or his current contract is a year or more ahead.

He is already on the family share plan but his contract is about to end. So, he is afraid that if he signs me up now, it will renew his contract and he won't be able to get a new phone.

2 things...
#1. If he is already on a family share plan and you're not changing the number of peak mins then there will not be an extension of contract.
#2 If he does have to renew it will not stop nor prevent him from being able to do a handset upgrade. They both operate independently of each other.
Hope this helps.
