I have the LG Chocolate and I bought the Music Essentials kit to transfer my mp3s on my computer to it. Well after spending hours on trying to get that to work and talking to tech support, I found out that it is a known issue (and I saw it here too) and that its true that its not working for some people. The technicians are supposed to be working on it.
What happens is that when I go to Sync within Windows Media Player 10, it can't find the phone. Though my phone is recognized by the PC and shows up in device manager.
In the meantime I can't get any music to the phone.
I was wondering though if you can transfer music to this phone through a card reader. In other words, copy all my music to the tiny little card from my PC to it and then get it to work that way. Anyone done that?
Please write back.
Thanks,
Angie

mine periodically doesn't recognize my phone in media player 10 but usually upon a reboot it does *shrug* as for putting mp3s directly onto the card, all you need to do is put the card in the reader and open the directory for the card, then put your mp3s into the my_mp3 folder, works fine that way. it works the same for the vx8300 as well.

glad i could help ya out. now i'm not sure if wma files will work the same way or not, haven't had a chance to test it out but i doubt they will, but if you want to try those they would be placed into the my_music folder, any pix you want on your phone you can drop into the my_pix folder, sounds go into the my_sounds and any 3gp format videos would go into the my_flix folder. transferring files directly to the card through the reader is really the easiest way to do it.

Well I successfully got all my MP3s onto the phone by going through the card reader. Much easier than trying to do it through WMP.
As for pictures, what size do they need to be? Would this be for backgrounds on the phone? OH.... to assign pictures to certain callers, right?
Also, what about My Sounds? What is that for? How do you get 3gp video format too?
Thanks for your feedback.

yeah i pretty much always use the card reader to put the music on the card, much easier and quicker.
the pictures can either be used as backgrounds or caller id images, or just ones you want to send to someone in a pix message. as for size, i try to keep mine no bigger than the max resolution that the camera itself can take, which is 1280x960, and i keep the file size to under a meg, preferrably no more than oh 300kb if i can. they can be either jpeg format or gif, and yes they can be animated gifs as well.
sounds as far as i can tell are just little sounds you can add to say a pix message for whatever reason. there are a few already included on the phone and unless you change the save settings to save your sounds to the memory card, then when you use the voice recorder feature, whatever you record goes into the sounds directory on the phone.
and to get 3gp format video you need a video converter to convert avi, wmv, mov, etc. files to the 3gp format. you can find several listed here: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/3gp-avi-format.html and they're all clearly marked as to whether they are shareware or freeware, or you can get the nokia multimedia player which also converts videos: http://europe.nokia.com/A4143702 it should be listed at the top. it will work fine to convert videos for your phone, all yoou need to do is install it, run it and open the video you want converted, then go to file> save as and simply save the file. i've used it numerous times to convert videos i wanted to put on my phone. i've used others as well but that seems to be the simplest one to use, so if your new at converting i'd try that one first.
anymore questions just ask, and i'll do my best to help you out

Hey Krystofer,
Wow thanks for all that information. I will look into that software for converting to 3gp.
Also, can you put ringtones on the card reader like the MP3s or does that have to go through Music Essentials and its USB connection? Right now I have the one from Music Essentials AND the card reader that is of course plugging in as USB. If I could get down to just one device I have to plug into my computer, that woud be ideal of course.

Is there anyway to do all of this (adding music, photos, movies) just using the usb cord instead of the card reader? (I have the multimedia package).
thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. I bought a micro SD USB Reader and tried to download music from my computer using windows media player to the my music folder on the micro SD card. Everything looked OK during the transfer of files, however when I plugged the micro SD card back into the phone, the phone did not recognize the new music files. File type is wma. Can read file properties on the phone, but music won't play.
