Hi,
I am unable to copy any contact numbers from the phone memory to Sim memory. The Sim memory shows "100 free" & "0 in use" but any copy attempt, whether individual number or all contacts fails with "1 contact not moved". In "gallery" it shows the Sim card as having 180.5kb of data on it. Can anyone shed any light on this problem?
Any help is much appreciated. I am about to change phones and want to get all the numbers onto the Sim card in order to use it in a new phone without reentering the data.
Thanks for any assistance,
Colin

One possibility would be that the connection from the phone to the card might be disturbed or there is another mailfunction.
Take it out and clean, might help.

Thanks for the suggestion. Have cleaned the sim card and contacts and tried again. This time it moved all the system contacts (i.e. voicemail, top up credit, show balance, etc) plus the first of my alphabetical contacts. It then failed with "target memory full". The Sim memory now shows "89 free" & "11 in use" but it will not copy anything else. do you have any other suggestions?
thank you

Sounds odd but it also seem you've got an quite old SIM card (juest recognized) since newer once can save 250 numbers.
Mayber it's a problem because of the card.
Don't you have the possibily to copy your contacts to your computer?

Thats probably what I will have to do so I will need to get a data cable. The other option is to infrared them to my wife's phone and then IR back to a new phone but I think that can only be done one at a time which is very tedious.
Thanks for your help,
Colin

That would be very annoying, yes.
When you get your new phone, why don't you put your wife's SIM card in it, send your contacts over to it and and then put your own SIM card in.
Of if it is a Nokia phone: maybe it has a data-cable included in the package.

The easiest way would be to buy a USB Bluetooth/infra red dongle for your computer, download Nokia datasuite from nokia.com, then make a backup to the computer ( you can only transfer the data back on to a Nokia handset )
That way you end up with a dongle you will use for other things, rather than a cable that can only be used for nokia phones ( not to mention , the dongle will only be a few $ on ebay )

The problem of the Nokia PC Suite backup software is: you can't transfer the backup of phone A to phone B, only to phone A again.
But you would be able to copy everthing easily, yes.
And as I said: maybe the new phone has a data cable included.
