to get the settings you need. The locked Cingular phones come with the settings already..well, set.
Unlocked phones need to have the settings entered manually. There are other stickys (stickies?) with info on using unlocked phones. Remember, you won't get any phone help from a carrier that didn't sell you the phone. Naturally, there is the occasional tech or CSR that will help you, but don't count on that too much. It's not their job.
Good luck,

Unlike what Geri said - I would try calling again to Tech Support - Cingular should be able to either send or walk you through setting up your phone to use their data.
I know with T-Mobile at least, if we can't do it Tech we get them to a 3rd party group which has all settings for all phone and could do it. Considering that Cingular is GSM and I know that I've seen other threads where Cingular has sent settings, I would recommend trying that.

check to see if there is a websessions menu
From the standby screen press the Menu key.
Scroll to and select Settings.
Scroll to and select Web Access.
Scroll to and select Web Sessions.
if there is no websessions the phone you bought needs a flex file... these are found in the motorola forum...(ahh the joys of an unlocked phone)

actually... you both were right...
but to save a whole bunch of calling...
the simple answer is the the V3 used on cingular stores the data settings in a websessions file... (tmobile doesnt)... thats why there is a cingular flex over in the moto forum...
mebbe you both should peruse that forum...

Well, I thought that sending the OP to the link with the settings would help. And since someone has to ask this kind of question, my guess is that they may not be quite prepared to go through the song and dance of flexing the phone and run the risk of bricking the phone because they didn't get something quite right. Entering the settings manually seems to be the most harmless method for this situation.
But I guess that's what I get for thinking.
Thanx for the info, though.
