Love high-speed 3G data but find that you are experiencing far too many pockets where service is lacking? If you're a T-Mobile subscriber, you're going to love this news: The company that keeps reminding you to "get more" has just got more: T-Mobile has won bids to use a lot of the 3G spectrum.
With very significant portions of the 1700MHz and 2100MHz bands, Catherine Zeta-Jones and crew are getting ready to blanket super-urban areas with plenty of 3G coverage. The 120 bids translate to 474 million people served. The implementation won't be instantaneous, of course, with full deployment taking about a year to complete.

T-M is catching up real quick. Cingular is on the ropes as the top Data GSM provider...if only you all weren't stuck with EDGE.

cingular does have a huge headstart in deploying umts/hsdpa. it will be nice to see umts/hsdpa phones that are compatible in europe and asia. with the 2100 band, maybe we'll see some of those sweet asian phones on this side of the water
