yeah he's talking about the ringtone on the handset, bluetooth capabilities have nothing to do with theringtones played by the handset's speakerphone

It is now January of 2007. Any update to this issue with "when the headset is on, the phone can't play mp3 rings anymore, it only plays nasty beeps". I have the new vR3 red and it does the same thing when I connect my Motorola H500 headset to it.
I have looked every where, including on the Motorola site, and it is not even listed as an issue. I have tried to get some response from Motorola but when I call, they have no idea what I am talking about. As this was posted back in 2006, one would like to think that an answer has been found.
As of now I know the krzr k1m is able to play standard mp3 ringtones with the headset connected, I don't know about the K1 but I imagine it would work the same as the k1m and be able to use the headset and still use your favorite ringtone.
So Anything manufactured after the K1 and k1m should have no problem with it. However the V3r came out prior.

Okay, but the V3r red is supposed to have a different software version in it. Guessing that's not the case after all. As I work for a software company, I have a bad habit for thinking issues like this should be solved with an software update. (Need a HotFix or a Feature Pack) But there doesn't seem to be an update for this phone, at least not that I have found and not from Cingular.
Cingular Won't offer software updates, that you would have to get from motorola or a third party with a lot of money or know how, However the V3r's first manufacture date was well before the krzr, so motorola didn't actually intigrate that feature into that firmware on the v3r
