Newbie ? here
I recently purchased the VX8500 Chocolate phone.
Went out and purchased a Micro SD card to put some mp3's on. Simple enough right? Well I go back to windows media 10. Take a few CD's and rip them in mp3 format to wmp10. I format the sd card by putting it into my phone, insert it into my PC & wmp10 recognizes it with folders (My music, my flix, etc..)
Now I tried to sync the mp3's there with no luck. A pop up comes up that says the mp3 is write protected or something like that? Any ideas on how I can take care of this? FYI these are my CD's so they are not downloaded off the net.
Thank you in advance for anyone helping me with this.

when you rip music through WMP, there's a checkbox that you can click to protect the music in the tools > rip music section. make sure that's not checked.
the other thing is to see if there's a slide lock on the card itself.

Ok
Box is not checked and now I am getting:
"Windows Media layer cannot modify the syncronization settings at this time. Try again later."
This is when I click on "Set up Sync"
When I click on "Start Sync" I get " The media is write protected" ( this is on a song that I ripped with the box not checked "Copy write protected"
This is driving me nuts.
Why can't they just come up with one format. Bastards, AAC,MP3, WMA etc....
Any help would be very helpful and keep me from throwing this thing across the room. haha
Thanks

sorry, I've been at work for the past 9 hours, with more time to go, without access to WMP, so i can't help too much more now. the only other option i can think of right now would be try dragging and dropping through windows explorer.

I've got your answer: its because you're ripping it in .mp3 format. When syncing, for some stupid reason the USB will only accept songs ripped in .wma.
.mp3 songs do work, but they have to be placed manually through the microSD card. Dumb, I know.

I have tried both Mp3 format and wma. I am not using a usb cable either. I have a SD drive on my PC.
When I try to do it manually it just tells me that the "media is write protected and to remove the write-protection or use another disc"
? Ideas on how to rempove the write protection?
Thanks guys
I dont know who else I could ask

Sounds like it has something to do with the way that the .mp3 or .wma was ripped. Try ripping the song again, and turning off any option for write-protecting it.
Or maybe I'm reading it the wrong way, and you might have accidentally flipped on the data lock tab on your SD card. Check if there's some sort of tab you can switch and try writing something onto it after that.
Try the second suggestion first, and then the first one. Hopefully it'll work.

Holy Crap
I am the biggest idiot in the world right about now.
I was under the impression that the "lock" tab on the SD card locked the micro card in there, not locked me from entering in data. And I am usually pretty good with tech stuff. Geeshh....
I feel like a jack ass now.
Thanks for all your help guys
Now you can point your finger and laugh at me.
