cingular runs the 850 and 1900 bands as part of their gsm network. the v3x will beable to access both frequencies which will ensure getting the best coverage.
if you are in an area that is 850 only, the phone will connect on 850. if you're in an area with 1900 only, the phone will beable to connect to the 1900 frequency.

This is incorrect, unless Motorola has changed the V3x lately. I found out the hard way that the V3x is a tri-band phone with the 850 band not being included. Hold on a sec....according to zoomcell.com, the V3x has the 900/1800/1800/ bands. Check with the local folks to see what bands are used in your area.

im still confused gerio is saying one thing and steva 11 is saying another. Im not sure if this websites info on the v3x is correct cause it has been slightly wrong before but it says the gsm networks are 850/1800/1900. SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY!
p.s. srry 4 all the trouble, but i don't want to take a gamble on such an expense.

As I said before..I BOUGHT A V3x AND FOUND OUT FOR MYSELF THE HARD WAY. . That means I had one in my hands for 3 days and tried to use it. It would NOT work because Cingular uses the 850 band. I have heard of some instances of locations where Cingular uses one of the other bands, 1900, I think, but let's hear that from a Cingular tech before we take that for fact. Bottom line, I'd get a V3i or wait until the (so far rumored) quad-band version of the V3x comes out. I'm sorry for the confusion, maybe Steva has some info that I'm not aware of, but I don't know what that could be that would be as conclusive has owning one for 3 days and finding out the hard way.
I've run down this webpage..
http://www.motorola.com/consumer/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=b42c6af3c842c01 0VgnVCM1000008206b00aRCRD&prodGroup=All+Phones&show=fullSpecification
...and click on the "performance" tab. You'll see where the bands that the phone works on are listed.
You know, I think you really should buy one and see for yourself. Past that, I don't know what else to say.
