ok it took me a while but i was finally able to bluetooth some songs over and get them to play when someone calls and i can hear them ok,but the song does not play for the person on the other end.i use wavepad to edit the song then i use easy cd creator to convert the song and i rename it and bluetooth it over to my phone and the song plays for me but not the caller

T-Mobile does have a service you can purchase that plays a tune or song when someone calls your phone.

Setting up a ring tone or caller ring tone on your T619 has nothing to do with what the caller hears when they call you. It only affects what you hear when your phone rings.

If you have read most or all of the posts on this T619 forum, you have learned that it is necessary to convert your Mp3 songs to .3gp format in order for the phone to recognize them as ring tones. Many of the posts identify how to do that, with software that is available for free on the internet.

Once you have the songs converted, they can be ported over to the phone using bluetooth or a USB cable like you have. One of the earlier posts talks about moving the songs over using the USB cable and software that can be downloaded from the Samsung web site (software specifically for use with the phone) called Samsung PC Studio. Someone on page 6 of this forum has the web address for it posted.

Good luck.

hey so i have the samsung t619 and i got my mp3s to work as ringtones by using the select the horrible scott stapp song and select grayed out thing. i have been getting ringtones using mobile17, but that requires you to have tmobile web to download the song. i have been able to download a few songs from there without any trouble, and im not signed up for tmobile web. but now it wont let me download on my phone's browser. so. is there any way i can send my mp3s from my computer to my phone without using any cables, or bluetooth? email maybe? icon_frown.gif

Ok I have read and tried every single thing on the first 12 pages of this thread.

I am not an idiot and I have been very thorough.

The Scott Stapp greyed out method worked, but nothing else has, and really (like everyone) I mainly care about assigning individual tones to my contacts.

I have downloaded SO MANY programs that were suggested here, and everytime I transfer the 3gp file to my phone, it says either "File too large" (which is total BS because the files are all under 500k) or "Unsupported content type"

the formats I am sending are mp3s converted to mp4s which I renamed 3gp.

I even used the iTunes method to get the m4a and then changed it to the .3gp

and every time I get the same messages either "File too large" or "Unsupported content type"

To get them to the phone I am using a proggy called Create-Ringtone to send it because I have T-Mobile web. This program lets you send over either a ringtone, a wallpaper or a file

unfortunately the Ringtone section only allows you to select the following types:

.ogg
.mp3
.mp2
.mp1
.wav
.wma

thats it. No 3gp, no mp4, no m4a

so I have been using the FILE section which lets you send ANYTHING, but again, I keep getting one of those two messages.

I have been wanting to get a usb cable to try, but I don't know if that'll make a difference, and then I'm out $20.

Anybody have any suggestions? Please I am going CRAZY over here! icon_wacko.gif

I have converted a large number of songs to M4a (AAC Format) and then changed the .M4a to .3gp. I have done this with software on my Macintosh called Max, and also with Itunes. When ported over to the phone by way of bluetooth, they all work beautifully as ring tones and caller ring tones. I have done this on 2 phones that I own, and on a couple of T619 phones for other people.

I know the process works when using bluetooth to get the songs over to the phone, and it also works using a USB cable. I would say that the method you are using to get the songs to the phone is the problem. You need to port the songs over with either bluetooth or the cable.

All of my ring tone songs are between 200 and 300K, as 20 to 30 second clips. I have, however, ported an entire song over and it still worked as a caller ring tone. So your 500K song is not a problem.

Try and find someone that has bluetooth capability on their computer, and move the songs to the phone using their computer and bluetooth. If you do this, the songs will go into the music folder, and they will be selectable as ring tones. You can buy a bluetooth module as a USB plug-in for around $20 online, or $30 at Circuit City. I would suggest picking one up at Circuit City and giving it a try with your computer. If you are not successful, you can return it and get a refund.

The process absolutely works. I have done it too many times on a number of T619 phones for there to be any doubt.

Let me know what you discover.

ok, i have sat here for a good amount of time trying to understand this ringtone business. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I have done the grayed out box, and attempted to download the samsung PC studio, but the connection wizard took a god-awful amount of time. I am not fed up, but this is the only free time I have and I just want it to work. So in easy-to-understand simpleton language (not that i don't understand computer jargon) please help me and others understand how to:
-transfer a ringtone using a USB cable to your phone
-on a PC
-and I have some Data Suite thing that doesn't really seem to work, so that could be the problem.
please help!

If you have read through all, or most, of the posts in this T619 forum, then you know that people have been using quite a variety of methods to get their songs into a format that the phone will accept and use as ring tones. In a nutshell, here are the key points.

1. The Mp3 song should be clipped so that what you port over to the phone is only 20 to 30 seconds long. Various people have posted information in this forum about free online software they have used to do this. I am working with an Apple Macintosh computer, and I use Apple's software known as Garageband.
2. After the Mp3 song has been clipped, it needs to be converted to an Mp4 (AAC format). After it has been converted, the name of the song will end in .M4a. The .M4a can then be backspaced away, and replaced with .3gp. The song will now be recognized by the phone as being ring tone acceptable, once it is ported over. On my Macintosh I use free software called Max to make the conversion.
3. The song can be ported over to the phone by way of Bluetooth, or with a special USB cable. Samsung PC Studio (free at Samsung web site) can be used to get the song over to the phone. On my Macintosh, I port it over directly using Bluetooth software that is built into the Mac's Operating System.

I have ported over many different songs, to a few different T619 phones, and the songs work beautifully as ring tones.

Thank you so much for this thread! After several hours of futzing with my new phone, and one less than thrilled husband, by page 12 we had it working. We are using my husband's t809 to bluetooth it to my t619.

After trying everything on the first half a dozen pages I got to the part about itunes. I imported my ringtone (that I had chopped down in the samsung software). Converted it to AAC. Dropped it on the desktop (make sure you grab the converted one, not the original or someone gets very upset with you). Renamed it from .m4a to .3gp. Used the cable to upload it to his phone and then sent it to mine (i don't have a cable yet). Voila, it worked and I was able to save it to a name. I'm so excited, thanks!

There is something I am missing, or my phone just got crazy!
I succesfully convert MP3 to .3gp file using SUPER by eRightSoft. Then I transfer via USB cable it to my t-mobile Samsung t619 to Music folder, also no problems. BUT, when I try to play it on the phone I got "Unsupported Content" message.
I tried different converter software. With that converter I can play the file on the phone, but I got the same error trying to set it as a ringtone.
Anybody knows what's going on?
Thanks in advance
