I STILL cant add MP3's to my phone and apply them as ringtones. I tried every method everyone has posted and I still can't do it. Can someone tell me a different and an assuring way for me to add them as ringtones.
The first thing you need to do is tell us step by step what you have tried, and what the results have been. Be specific, to include the software you have used to convert files to Mp4 (AAC format), and whether or not you have clipped them to 30 seconds or so. After the conversion, do the file names end in .M4a, because that is what you should be seeing. The .M4a then gets changed to .3gp.
How are the songs being ported over to the phone?
Give us all the details, and we can help you figure it out. It definitely can be done, if you follow the proper method.

Okay so I've read this thread a few times, but I think I might be out of luck. I need some reassurance though.
First of all, I deleted that Scott Strapp ringtone or whatever a long time ago.
Second, I am on that kids connect plan until I can pay for the other one so I CAN'T buy another hifi ringtone.
Lastly, I don't have a usb cord thing.
So, am I just SOL?
Please help?

If you have the Samsung T619 phone, it does not matter what type of plan you have with T-Mobile. The phone is capable of playing your own music as a ring tone, regardless of the type of plan.
To port your own music over to the phone, you must have either the USB cable or access to a computer with Bluetooth capability. I port songs over to my two phones using Bluetooth on an Apple Macintosh computer, and the process works beautifully. For the phone to properly recognize the songs as being ring tone compatible, the songs must be converted from Mp3 format to Mp4 (AAC format), and then the suffix of .M4a on the song's name changed to .3gp. A song that has been clipped to a length of 20 to 30 seconds works best, because it does not take up too much memory.
People that have been posting on this forum have been using a wide variety of software (freeware) to convert their songs and get them in the proper format. The process that seems to work for everyone is to use Apple's software known as Itunes, where you can right click on a Mp3 song and convert it to Mp4 (AAC format).
For some that have not been able to master it, I have sent them an e-mail with some of my converted songs attached to it, and that has worked for them. Once the converted songs are received, they still need to be ported over using Bluetooth or the USB cable. If you do not have access to either, perhaps one of your friends has a computer with Bluetooth capability build into it. Most of today's new computers have Bluetooth built into them.
If you want me to send some songs as attachments, provide me with an e-mail address and the type of songs you would want.

I just got my phone along with a USB cable. Can someone please let me know the easiest way to download ringtones to my phone? Thanks
If you have read most or all of the posts on this T619 forum, you have learned that it is necessary to convert your Mp3 songs to .3gp format in order for the phone to recognize them as ring tones. Many of the posts identify how to do that, with software that is available for free on the internet.
Once you have the songs converted, they can be ported over to the phone using bluetooth or a USB cable like you have. One of the earlier posts talks about moving the songs over using the USB cable and software that can be downloaded from the Samsung web site (software specifically for use with the phone) called Samsung PC Studio. Someone on page 6 of this forum has the web address for it posted.
Good luck.

ok I've already downloaded Samsung PC Studio and but so far I've only transferred ringtones to my music folder and it doesn't allow me to set as a ringtone. What am I doing wrong?

go to the samsung website (this being my first post, I can't post a URL, so you'll have to figure out the website yourself.), download the file 'Samsung PC Studio.'
(To download.
Click on the SUPPORT link at the top. A Download center page should load up. Type in the model of your phone (SGH-T619 is what most of us have), and click ok. then a link for the file should show up.)
once you download and start that file, a screen shows up with 8 icons.
click on the 'manage multimedia files'. there, you can add your music files, and convert them to the necessary format (M4A. when I did the other formats, they didn't work).
now, back on that screen with the 8 icons, click on 'transfer files'. click the PC window, and select you directory, you can rename your file when it shows up in the list of files, change the extention to .3gp, then just drag it to the MUSIC folder in the PHONE window.
that's all free and all self contained. (their address book editor SUCKS though...) (of course, that's assuming you have BlueTooth, or a data cable)
This worked for me
One thing I would mention is the File Transfer program crapped out on me a bunch of times. Other than that, this method works. Sound quality seems to be on par regardless of mp3 or m4a or 3gp format
Bottom line, doing it this way is easy, free, and works. Good work bac512
I've done everything step by step and was able to transfer it to my phone but I was unable to set it as a ringtone. My file was .3gp.m4a. Is that correct?

Just got a new t619 from T-Mobile and it's a sexy, sexy phone -- except for one thing -- only mp3s with DRM can be used as ringtones! I've tried all the workarounds for previous samsung phones that I can find, and nothing is working. Here's what I've tried so far:
* Changing file to .3gp .mid does not work. The phone is smarter than that.
* .mmf is not supported.
* Copyright bit in mp3 does absolutely nothing. It's got to be DRM.
* I'm experimenting with .mp3 files that all worked flawlessly on my old Cingular x497, so there aren't any size or bitrate issues. The files play seamlessly, they just won't set as ringtone.
The only solution I can think of so far is to add DRM to my mp3s, and the only software I can find that does it is Media Audio Cutter. It's kind of dinky, and you can't try the DRM feature without buying it, and I don't want to pay $15 for crap software if I don't have to or if it doesn't work.
This phone is brand spanking new and kind of had a stealth launch, so information on the internets is sparse. I did learn that the t629 has nearly identical software but in a different form factor, so any crack that works for the t619 should work for the t629 as well.
I've said it before, I'll say it again -- HELP!
B/T your mp3 ringtones to your music dir.
Click MENU
Scroll and click SETTINGS
Select SOUND SETTINGS
Select INCOMING CALL
Scroll to RINGTONE and hit OK button
Scroll to MUSIC
now, you should see your mp3 ringtone in there, however, it won't be lit up like some of the other files. That's fine.
Scroll to your mp3 file. It should start to play.
Now, press SELECT about 4-5 times. Nothing will happen, but just keep pressing it.
Then press BACK
You will revert back to the Incoming Call menu. your OLD ringtone will still show. That is ok.
The phone will prompt you to SAVE. So press SAVE.
Go back into the "Incoming call" menu.you'll see your ringtone is set.

Well everybody, thanks for whoever discovered that Scott Stapp trick. it really works, to show my appreciation i am gong to solve a much requested problem ive found on the forum.
HOW TO SET INDIVIDUAL RINGTONES
unfortunately, my method only works if you have the FAVE 5 plan:
Set who you want to have different ringtones as your fave five.
go to myfave settings and click SHOW DISPLAY
go to edit on the person whom you want to assign n individual ringtone
go to the ringtone and follow the Scott Stapp method:
select scott stapp ringtone as ringer
click save
click select ringer again and select one of the grayed out ringers you
want
click select
press back
click save
exit MYFAVES contact edit
close phone
call yourself
THERE YOU HAVE IT!
you can change everybody's ringtone by simply adding them to my fave then changing them back to the order you desire once you have giving each individual you wanted their own ringtone

If you guys can, please emai me when any of you gets a chance at Eneaivi@msn.coom (change to com)
thank you and sorry to bother.

Hi all.
I read the thread and it seems really informative, but I'm stuck and didn't see this addressed in here yet.
I bought this USB cord and it had a disk named Headset Manager. I installed it to my computer, but it didn't have anything on Samsung T619. So it sent me to download stuff about that phone, and I did. But now I still can't get it to recognize it. What I mean is, I can't get any kind of signal that I can transfer MP3s to my phone. All it does is charge the battery.
I was wondering if there was any software that I can download to be able to upload MP3s to my phone. By the way, my computer is Windows Vista, so I'm new to it. I'm hoping that's not a problem, but I just can't seem to find a way to get it to connect to the phone, and be able to transfer MP3 files to it.
