I have a v3 RAZR from T-Mobile, and it certainly plays MP3's. I have 63 ringtones so far that I've made from my favorite songs. Transfering them to the phone via bluetooth is very easy. You can also transfer video clips and photos from your computer to your phone (and vice versa to take them off your phone and store on your computer).
I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)to edit the songs to a 20-second length, and then I export them as a 56kbps MP3 file. (56kbps is the highest compression without sounding too garbled. You can go higher if you want a smaller file-size, and don't mind the lower sound quality).

Thank you so much for the information. I will check out Audacity for sure. As far as bluetooth transfers go...I'm using a PC with winxp pro. Would I just get a USB bluetooth adapter and use windows explorer or something to move the mp3s to the phone once I have it linked with my pc?
Thanks so much for your help!
Robert

My laptop came with Bluetooth already integrated, so I'm not sure if the USB Bluetooth Adapter will be different. However, I'd imagine it would at least be a similar process, if not the exact same.
Yes, Windows Explorer is how I move files. There is a "My Bluetooth Places" folder under the "My Network Places" folder in Explorer.
There is also a shortcut icon to "My Bluetooth Places" on my desktop that I double click and it opens a window where I can select "View Devices in Range." There I double click the icon for my phone, and the computer connects to it. After that I select "OBEX File Transfer" which takes me to the phone's folders for "audio," "video," or "pictures."
So to add ringtones, I just open the "audio" folder, then drag and drop (or copy and paste) the song into it.
To transfer something off of the phone and onto the computer, I right click on the file and select "Send to: Bluetooth Exchange Folder." After it has transfered, I then move it from the Exchange Folder to the folder of my choosing.
