I've read on other sites that changing this setting, not in this particular way, will disable the memory card slot on the phone and possibly the music player.

JWC, thanks for putting in the time and effort to write up these procedures. Everything was clear and worked. I wasn't sure about the part where I identified my phone as a v3mM (I actually tried making it a v3c, but that didn't work), but I think what happened was that it confused the mpt and forced it to present a list of phones to me. I picked cmsd/v3cm (the v3c, v3x and others I tried gave me the MM Studio, but file transfers always failed). The v3cm works great!

This worked for me except I had to pick my phone as a V3CM.
Then it all worked great.
Thanks

Prolly a silly question but. . . .
While I have not obtained a copy of MPT yet . . .
I wanted to know. . .
Will this allow me to change the pic that my Razr V3m shows on the little screen on the outside of the phone? I am so tired of the three bar color that says "Verizon Wireless" I could puke. Also, will this allow me to tranfer files onto the phone to make custom Wallpapers from pics that I may already have? If so, what format do these need to be in?
Thanks in advance for the info.

Are the intructions for Version v3m the same for sprint v3m. I mean editing the seems and installing msu to activate multimedia?

Great guide! I've had all the needed software for a few months now, and hadnt been able to get P2KSeem to connect to the phone for whatever reason.. followed your guide to a T and presto! got a nice unlocked Verizon V3CM (the silver Razr..)
one thing to mention tho.. after the step
Quote:
After seem editing, disconnect the USB cable from your phone, and then shut down p2k seem and Motoroal Software Update.
you have to cycle your phone, or shut it off and turn it back on for the seem changes to take effect... not a big deal, but I forgot that step after doing the seem edits on my wife's phone, and spent 15 minutes checking my work before pulling my head out heh
anyhow, thanks for the great guide!

I followed the directions about 3 times now and I can't seem to get it to work. I'm having trouble installing my phone with Mobile Phone Tools. Everytime I go to set up my phone with Mobile Phone Tools, it won't recognize my phone at all. Has anyone else had this problem?
1. I have installed the MPT. When I get to the page Installing MPT it displays "Please make sure your phone is not locked. Please select on how you will be connecting your Phone to your PC." It gives me 3 options: USB Cable, Bluetooth, Infrared. I choose USB Cable then hit Next. Note that I do no have my phone yet connected to my PC.
2. The next screen is Phone Setup. It reads "Please turn your phone on and connect it to the cable, then connect your cable to your PC." "your phone will be detected and set up automatically." At this time I connect the cable to my phone(already turned on) then I connect the cable to my computer, via USB port. (I've tried 3 different USB ports on my computer to make sure that each one was working). After I plug in my phone, I get a scren that says, " Please wait, your phone is being installed and set up."
3. This is where it gets all screwy. After it is done reading, the next window that pops up says "mobile phone tools will not function correctly without a mobile deviceinstalled. Do you want to install one now?" It gives you option buttons yes or no. If I click yes, it takes me back to step one (where I have to choose how I will connect to my PC). If I select no, opens MPT. The phone model is completely wrong, I believe that it's the default model for MPT. I cannot do any of the options.
Does anyone know why it won't recognize my phone? I have swapped USB ports, restarted my PC and phone 3 times. Unistalled MPT and reinstalled it. I believe that MPT is not recognizing my phone. I know that it is connected, beacause I have downloaded VCast music to my phone from my PC. Anyone have any ideas?

I am gettting the same result. I plug into the phone, then open the phone, then plug into the computer and the computer installs a modem driver for the phone and the Motorola Software Update does nothing. Would appreciate any suggestions.
EDIT: I found that the V-Cast software that was on my computer prevented the MSU software from seeing a phone. I uninstalled and could talk to the phone
