If I were to get the Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 500 additional messages plan, would that be shared across all 3 phones?
Or do I have to purchase it for each phone?

Everybody always sees the "per line" as a negative thing. If it were the other way around, say $20 for Unlimited and 750 extra shared across all 3 lines, then you'd have customer's saying "well what if we all don't wanna text message? why don't you allow us to pick and choose which lines we want it on for a cheaper price?" The truth is the cell companies are in business to make money, and for the most part the competition keeps the prices reasonable and has gone down over the years. It use to cost $100/month for only 400 min. Text messaging will get cheaper, but there'll be some new service you'll be using and complaining about the price in the future.

I think text messaging should be free within the network just like calling.
