I bought a new, unlocked, Motorola krzr k1. It's a nice phone, but there is a major problem. When I power on the phone the welcome screen comes on but then it disappears to a completely white screen and after five seconds it comes back on to the menu section. Is this normal? And also when I enter a phone number and I hit the send button, the screen disappears and goes completely white. The welcome screen comes back on and the number that I dialed didn't go thru. Is this a software problem?
I called the company that I bought the krzr k1 from and they told me to recharge the battery. I did it but the problem still persists. I later called them back and they told me to call Motorola, but the problem I can't understand their customer service rep as he can hardly speak english.

For one, this phone is so new that not many folks here, if any at all, will be familiar with it. I ran into the language thing while getting my D&G V3i repaired. I would get get a rep that I could barely understand and simply hang up, fully aware that this was very rude, but what is more rude, hanging up or telling the rep that you can't understand their English? At any rate, keep trying with Moto, you'll get a rep that you can understand before too long.
Also, do the usual things like master reset, if it has that feature, before you send it off. And you might want to try another battery and make sure that the battery contacts are clean. Sounds like it's restarting itself for some reason

Hey Guys, I just purchased a unlocked KRZK which I will be getting next week. I see some adds on ebay that say it is a tri band and some that say it is a quad band. The majority of them say quad rather then tri. I am going to be running this off a cingular sim and wanted to make sure that all bands were on this phone. Thanks.
I called Motorola again and this time I was able to speak to a representative concerning my problems with the Motorola krzr k1. He told me to do the master reset of which I performed. Now the problem has gone from bad to worst! After I entered the PIN to do the master reset the phone completely locked! None of the buttons would work and it is now stuck on the master reset screen. The rep told me to remove the battery and reinsert it of which I did. The phone comes on but it is back to the master reset screen and it still has the PIN that I entered. And none of the buttons seem to work. Somehow this phone is now locked for good.
The representative then talked to his supervisor and I was then connected to the tech support department. They told me that I should just send the phone back because this is the 6th phone that they know of that is acting like this since the krzr was released. Their techs are already looking into what is causing it to go haywire. So if you are thinking of getting the krzr k1, you might want to hold off on it till they fix the problem.

Good sleuthing there, GSM. Thanx for passing on the info.
If all else fails check the motowebsite, but I believe its quadband, it wouldn't make sense for the latest and greatest to not be a complete world phone

I am also having the white screen problem. I got the phone in April. I have taken good care of it, I think it is a bug with the phone.

I think the K1 is a real piece of crap. Not a very good phone and even worse as an mp3 player.
I have a V3 and setting at my computer I get 3 bars (min) of signal with the K1 I get 0 (no signal) to 1 bar, and that with one of those antenna booster things under the battery. The voice command is completely worthless. If I use my ANT5 headset and say "CALL sombody" the phone will come back with "DID YOU SAY SEND everybody", the same problem occurs with my Motorola H500. If I use the phone mic then at least it will come back with a "DID YOU SAY CALL everybody". Not once has the list of numbers included the one I specified during the voice command.
As an MP3 player you have to edit your files to make them less than 32 characters long, remake the mp3 file to use 128kbps (160 with work MOST OF THE TIME). Even doing the above, the phone still hangs up to the point of NOT RECEIVING an incoming call, at times. This was very bad until rename and editing all the files. You have to make playlists, as the phone will not just play the files as loaded. I first loaded the files under my own folder on the micro SD, using my computer. As it turns out the K1 will create a complete folder structure and expects the mp3 files to be in the "audio" folder. Works a little better doing this but all of the problems still occurr. It seems to hang up more ofter when I am using the stereo ANT X5 headset in stereo mode than when using the H500 and listening in mono.

? Bigfig your a retard. V3 is way older and less advanced than a K1.
Man your a noob. i had a v3 before i got my k1 and my k1 is 100% working fine, v3 is not better, its got the old motorola interface ( note the k1 has a new and much more user friendly interface). dude stop making up shit, cos your so attached to ur mobile. lemme guess your gonna start scrapping the V9 aswell the v9 is a more expensive newer, more advanced mobile than the k1.
