my razr wont get connected to the computer even when i have the usb cord how do i get it to show up

Which program are you trying to use? Goto the tutorials section and read up on the How to get MPT to work, or P2k progs to work.

I'm not sure i fully understand, i'm just trying to get it to work with the usb cable i got from my slvr
then it wont even show that its connected to my computer

It wont show its connected unless you're using a program such as mobile phone tools or P2k Manager
